The grand tradition of solving complex geopolitical tensions by... targeting college kids. Because nothing says "strategic foreign policy" like revoking the visas of students who are here to study, innovate, and often contribute to the U.S. economy and tech sector.

This kind of move doesn’t just hurt the individuals involved it sends a message to the world that America is becoming more insular, paranoid, and reactionary. And it plays right into the hands of authoritarian governments abroad who love to say, “See? The U.S. isn’t a free or welcoming society after all.”

If the goal is to outcompete China on the global stage, maybe the play shouldn’t be slamming the door on top academic talent. Just a thought.
