AI may be reshaping how travellers choose destinations, and Kenya's tourism sector should adapt quickly to stay competitive.
1. AI is replacing search engines in trip planning, with a growing share of travellers now turning to generative AI tools instead of traditional websites.
2. Kenya's tourism sector is performing strongly, with visitor numbers and earnings rising, and international arrivals growing well above the global average.
3. Regional rivals are investing heavily. Rwanda, Egypt, Morocco and South Africa are building AI driven tourism systems, from crowd management to streamlined borders.
4. Kenya has a head start with e-travel authorization and data partnerships, but adoption remains concentrated among large players.
5. The real risk is exclusion, without extending digital tools to conservancies, small lodges and independent guides, AI could widen the gap between big tourism firms and community based operators.
📣One month until tourism’s biggest day.
AI is already changing the way we discover, plan and experience travel.
The real question is: where does it take tourism next?
On 27 September, that conversation goes global in El Salvador.

China’s booming ultra-short drama industry is being reshaped by the rapid rise of AI-generated video. In Zhengzhou, one of the country’s major production hubs, directors, actors, crews, and film bases that once fueled the industry’s explosive growth are now facing shrinking budgets, fewer shoots, and an uncertain future. Meanwhile, in other cities like Wuxi, AI studios are embracing the same technology to produce dramas faster and at a fraction of the traditional cost. As the two worlds increasingly converge, the question is no longer whether AI will change filmmaking, but what role humans will have in it.
