@Grazo16 @hell4u02 Sidebottom has no obligation to get the ball and give it back to him. All I’m suggesting with this tweet is that the fact that he didn’t clearly played in to the decision Nicholls makes 3 minutes later (which was a horrendous decision).

@JR_00002 I do think this would be something players would be instructed to do in gamesaving scenarios. You’re right - it buys an extra few crucial seconds to get set up behind the ball.

I don’t know why the umpire would feel the need to interfere though. Just ball it up quicker 🤷‍♂️

@searlo54 You’d hope so, and that each decision was made on its merits, but umpires are human and they clearly allow earlier incidents to factor in
