#integenerationallearning has a range of benefits for both younger & older generations. It helps students build social, communication & empathy skills & it helps strengthen the elderly's mental health & relationships. I would love to be able to have this in my own class one day.

When researching #intergenerationalcare I noticed that early childcare centers prioritize this over schools. There are many benefits that we as teachers are missing out on when we don't connect our younger & older generations that I would love to use when I am teaching! #teachuon
Our residents in the Charles O'Neill MHACPI unit today got a special visit from the local preschool! The residents loved the company and the children loved learning from their new older pals.

@LovesRoberson A great clip, Amy! It really highlights the positive impact intergenerational learning/care has on the elderly participating! It's so good for their mental health and helps tackle the loneliness and isolation many of them feel once they're placed in care facilities!
A video on TransAge, a program promoting #intergenerationallearning where seniors go into schools and collaborate, play and engage with students! These seniors are trained and become role models for these students, helping them in all areas of curriculum!

@russell_uon oh wow! I love this idea! Not only are students learning about local histories, but they're getting their learning from such valuable, primary sources! It would be really great if students could go see and speak more to the older generation too, it would be so beneficial.
#intergenerationallearning allows students to learn to work collaboratively with the elderly, and build social, language and interpersonal skills. It also benefits the elderly by increasing their positive mental health and stopping them from feeling lonely and isolated. #teachuon
A great TED Talk on the benefits of Intergenerational Learning! Definitely worth a watch! He talks about students, who have taken up residence in nursing homes, collaborating with and aid the residents in the homes!

@MrBrettlad@portmacnews I know my friends and I always had so much fun swimming in the lake as kids/teenagers and jumping off the bridge in the summer! We also did vacation care trips there in the summer too as a fun water activity which were fun too!
An interesting read on #intergenerationallearning and how it's finally being recognised as an important tool for educating and connecting both students and the elderly. It's called Intergenerational Learning and Education in Schools and Beyond. #teachuon
