This picture broke our hearts! 💔🇮🇷
Ramin Rezaeian scored the equalizer and won the Man of the Match award... but it wasn't enough.
After the final whistle, he couldn't hold back his tears. Iran was seconds away from qualifying, but a last-minute winning goal was disallowed.
The image of Ramin accepting the award with tears in his eyes says it all. It captures the pain of a team that fought not only on the pitch but off it as well.
While other teams participated in the World Cup as usual, Iran had to train in Mexico and travel to the United States on match day. A very complicated situation that severely hampered their participation.
This was so much more than just a football match.
All our respect to you, Iran. 🇮🇷❤️
Also, I’m aware Santa Monica has its own Mayor- But the Mayor of LA has enormous influence over the entire region because LA is the county’s largest city. Yet millions of people who are affected by regional issues like homelessness, transportation, and public safety don’t get any say in this election.
1 big issue is there are so many parts of LA that don’t get to vote for Mayor, including unincorporated parts- Santa Monica, West Hollywood, Glendale, Culver City, East Los Angeles etc… this is a major flaw in the system b cuz whoever gets voted in is not an accurate representation of what Angelinos as a whole want
