I held office hours at a coffee shop this morning in the Fort Point Neighborhood. We discussed quality of life issues and neighborhood services. Note: I’m committed to bringing a public library to the Fort Point Neighborhood. Let’s work together to make this a reality!
Called for a hearing on public safety & quality of life issues in South Boston. We have witnessed an increase in open drug dealing & drug use near Fourth St bridge, West Broadway, Gillette, Fort Point, Andrew Square, Moakley Park/Carson Beach. I will organize a public safety walk
Called for a hearing on storage of lithium-ion batteries in micro-mobility devices. In Roxbury, a battery in an electric scooter on the 20th floor caused a fire. 40 evacuated, 3 sent to hospital. NYC/San Fran have legislation. We need to take action for public safety. #bospoli
Council colleagues blocked my resolution in support of waiving the 10 year residency requirement for Boston Police civilian employees transferring to sworn officers. An individual working over 10 years has to essentially work 20 years. Politics blocked a vote on an unfair policy!
Called for a hearing on both the construction & removal of a bike lane, all within two months, outside a senior building @ O’Connor Way in South Boston. If we governed w/ values of transparency & community process, this waste of taxpayer money would never have happened! #bospoli
Called for a hearing on the permitting/public process for block parties. An open invite to 125k followers on social media is different from the historical scope of neighborhood block parties. Residents want to ensure advanced notice & public funds not used for private interests.
Today, a colleague blocked my emergency hearing order on BPS Schools and colleges/universities receiving bomb threats yesterday. @bostonpolice & the Boston Regional Intelligence Center currently investigating. Given the public safety concerns, an Emergency hearing is warranted!
Happy to join SB seniors @_SBNH this morning to discuss the upcoming Ballot Questions. It was great to connect with residents, answer questions, and have a thoughtful conversation about the issues that matter most to our community.
Reports indicate many BPS Schools, colleges/universities received bomb threats today. @bostonpolice & the Boston Regional Intelligence Center currently investigating. Given the broad public safety concerns, @ErinforBoston & I filed an emergency Boston City Council hearing order.
This is just the latest example and result of the City of Boston and the Mayor’s Office of Neighborhood Services not conducting a thorough community process. Residents deserve to be heard and respected. That’s not happening at Boston City Hall.
Southie 'bike lane to nowhere' outside senior housing is coming out after months of complaints and ambulance trouble, Flynn says

I wrote to the MA Forensic Science Oversight Board requesting an investigation into the personnel practices and regulatory compliance of @bostonpolice Crime Lab. We need strong leadership, accountability, transparency, professionalism and state oversight at BPD Crime Lab!
It was an honor to join fellow veterans this afternoon for the monthly Veteran’s Appreciation Lunch sponsored @ShrineBoston. As a nation, let’s continue to honor our solemn oath to provide homeless veterans with access to housing, recovery services and a pathway to employment.
I’m calling for a stand alone @CityOfBoston department that is responsible for all aspects of pest control operations and management. This is a public safety, public health and quality of life issue. The status quo is no longer an option. It’s beyond time for positive leadership!
Honored to join Boston residents this afternoon for the Charles Yancey Book Fair. This annual event provides children with the opportunity to discover books and new opportunities to learn. Thank you Council President Yancey for your dedication to literacy and lifelong learning!
Kristen and I were honored to walk with the Michael J. Fox
Foundation this morning in South Boston to help find a cure for Parkinson's Disease. Our hearts are with our family members and friends who are battling this debilitating and horrible disease.Let's keep fighting together!
Having a dedicated position and office of pest control management would allow us to provide a more streamlined and coordinated process in reducing pests, and implement innovative ways to prevent pest infestations. We need a “rat czar” in Boston!
