The Kenya Veterinary Association(KVA) today paid a courtesy call to the CS for Agriculture & Livestock Development, Sen. Mutahi Kagwe at his office in Kilimo House. During the visit, KVA highlighted key professional concerns, including delays in internship stipends, unremitted deductions, low stipend amounts, staffing of Veterinary services in both levels of government and harmonisation of allowances of Veterinary officers with those of other Healthcare professionals.
The CS committed to working to resolve the issues, especially on improving the internship stipend amounts and the related issues.
The CS also urged KVA to be a holistic partner for the ministry and the association committed to providing critical support whenever required to advance agendas of mutual interest. The meeting concluded with a promise to have further engagement and to form a joint working group to address the challenges facing the animal resources industry.

A proud moment for Hester Biosciences!
We are honoured to be a part of the National Livestock Immunisation Program launched by the Government of Tanzania through the Ministry of Livestock & Fisheries.
Under this program, Hester Africa, based in Tanzania, will manufacture and supply PPR and CBPP vaccines, key in strengthening animal health and rural livelihoods.
As part of our contribution, we handed over 60 refrigerators to the Ministry in the presence of Dr. Ashatu Kijaji, Honourable Minister of Livestock and Fisheries. These refrigerators will be installed across councils to maintain cold chain for vaccine storage & distribution.
We applaud the visionary leadership of Her Excellency President Samia Suluhu Hassan in driving this impactful initiative that will economically uplift pastoralists and smallholder farmers across Tanzania.
Hester strives to be a key supplier of animal vaccines to the African continent through its plant in Tanzania. A true India-Tanzania partnership!
We thank The Gates Foundation for all its support.
