CASTRO: LET'S START WITH SARA'S CONFIDENTIAL FUNDS
Malacañang on Tuesday, March 18, responded to impeached Vice President Sara Duterte's claim that corruption is a more pressing issue than the Dutertes, agreeing that it should be addressed—starting with her own spending.
During an interview on ANC Headstart, Palace Press Officer and Presidential Communications Office (PCO) Undersecretary Atty. Claire Castro acknowledged corruption as a serious concern but pointed to allegations involving the Office of the Vice President’s (OVP) confidential funds.
"Yes, she said that the real problem of the government is with regard to the corruption. Yes, that is also one of the problems—corruption. And we can see based on the discoveries of the members of the House of Representatives, we can see allegedly fake or unsubstantiated receipts coming from the OVP regarding the confidential funds," Castro said.
She added that if Duterte is serious about tackling corruption, scrutiny should begin with her office’s expenditures.
"So, VP Sara is really correct that we should deal with the issues of corruption, and we will start with the confidential funds that she spent."
