"First class service all round. Quick delivery freshly roasted and eco packaging ticks all the boxes. I love it that they are an efficient family run business. Now started a subscription so I never run out." on EDGE Tea & Coffee https://t.co/b6hQIOpz5j via @Feefo_Official
@LukeJohnsonRCP It was obvious even when Blair set it out decades ago. The true scandal however is that the government has quietly flogged off the student loan debt to a private company. It's a matter of time before students wake up to the inequity of the rates they are being charged.
@visceralview@SamuelWeeps Many will never pay their bounce back loans either. Why did Companies House accept people starting up limited businesses in the middle of a Covid pandemic with no checks? Did they really have bona fide businesses when the nation was in lock down...really?? Shameful
@adurandworthing GREAT post! At Edge we call it the three R's.. Recycle. Reuse. Really Good Coffee! Bring your own container to our roastery and be rewarded with money off for doing so. A win for the planet and your pocket 👍😉
@NReclining It seems to me that when 50 %of the population(aka females) is marginalised, silenced and has no agency over their lives there are huge problems.
@LukeJohnsonRCP Keeping the roastery cafe and shop open with a bit of shifting and imagination was the best thing we could have done. Welcomed by 99% of customers who just wanted to see others when if they were masked up to the eyeballs and standing yards apart. No regrets whatsoever this end.
@Peston Andrew Bailey was claiming earlier this year that inflation was going to drop significantly by now... Once again he's hopelessly wrong. Remember him telling us all to calm down as inflation was 'transitory' in early 2022.
@sophielouisecc We have employed inmates from a local prison for over 30 years for wk exp. Last month I received a letter from a lawyer acting on behalf of one demanding that our company pay him furlough while he was unable to work during the pandemic. The prison closed, he was unavailable. Huh?
@SimonMcLeod@LukeJohnsonRCP@AllisonPearson Let's not demonise a specific group. The young have had a torrid time throughout the pandemic. Being stuck in expensive rented accommodation for years is not a happy prospect, on top of ludicrously high student loans. Many older people are also leaving the workplace ?
@Nigel_Farage@GBNEWS I have made myself v unpopular with the hospitality industry for years saying that we should train our own peopleSomewhat counterintuitively my belief is that even when we lose our staff to other companies we should be proud of the fact that we have trained them to be employable
@LukeJohnsonRCP We are a nation of small business owners. Targeting all businesses whatever their size is a huge mistake and will disproportionately disadvantage the smaller ones, most of which are embedded in their local community. Great way for brand UK to shoot ourselves in the foot!
@ariaclast@LukeJohnsonRCP@cjsnowdon The collective denial phase is coming to an end. The UK is already slipping into decline as is most of the Western world. Let's hope it is at least a managed, dignified decline.
Some hope.
