@mr_jay_pea No, permanent DST would not mean kids are standing around in pure darkness in the winter. Sunrise is when the sun is fully over the horizon. Dawn takes place upto 90 minutes before that in Winter.

By 730AM in most areas light would be on par with early evening, not pitch black.

No, standard time is not accurate to solar noon. It is only accurate to mean average noon on New Year's Day at certain latitudes and deviates by an additional minute per day after that.

@markdpace @SenateGOP Which may not seem like much but Sunrise is the time by which sun is fully over the horizon, not when light first appears. That process can last quite a long time, so you'll have close to full sunlight by the time kids are getting onto busses regardless.

If full Sunrise is at 8:20 AM on the Winter solstice at your location, then by January 31st it would be roughly around 7:47 AM.

There can be a difference in excess of 8 hours between the longest and shortest night of the year. Sleep patterns aren't going to match that, ever.

The reality is, they want to go to bed and get up early, they think constant ST gets them that.

While RAM prices haven't come down in price much, prices have largely been holding stable for awhile.

@tengyanAI The big mistake was taking a model that was ready around March and holding it up all the way to July. Sure, that wasn't entirely their fault, but they were the ones going around making their model out to be apocalyptic.
