🇩🇪 Alexander Zverev survived another marathon. He beat Quentin Halys 6-4, 4-6, 7-6(3), 6-7(3), 6-3 in 4 hours, 33 minutes - his second straight five-setter to start the tournament.
🇺🇸 Coco Gauff handled a dangerous Paula Badosa. The 2023 champion won 6-4, 7-6(5) under the lights to reach the third round for the fifth straight year.
🇺🇸 Taylor Fritz absolutely cruised. He demolished Mattia Bellucci 6-0, 6-1, 6-1, dropping just two games to book his place in Round 3.
🇷🇺 Karen Khachanov pulled off one of the biggest upsets of the day. He came back to beat Felix Auger-Aliassime 6-7(5), 6-3, 6-2, 6-2, with the Canadian saying afterward that he felt dizzy and was seeing spots.
🇫🇷 Gaël Monfils said goodbye to Grand Slam tennis. The 40-year-old fell to Learner Tien 6-3, 6-4, 6-3 in what was the final major match of his career.
Naomi Osaka, Elena Rybakina and Iga Swiatek also advanced to Round 3.

🇪🇸 Carlos Alcaraz dropped the opening set, then took over. He beat Jaime Faria 4-6, 6-0, 6-3, 6-2, improving his US Open record to 26-3.
🇧🇾 Aryna Sabalenka was ruthless. The two-time defending champion demolished Polina Iatcenko 6-1, 6-1 in just 53 minutes to reach Round 3 and extend her US Open winning streak to 16 matches.
🇺🇸 Ben Shelton survived a serious test. He took down Hubert Hurkacz 6-3, 5-7, 7-6(3), 7-5 under the Arthur Ashe roof to book a third-round clash with Denis Shapovalov.
🇪🇸 Daniel Merida pulled off one of the upsets of the day. The 21-year-old knocked out No. 23 seed Andrey Rublev 6-7(3), 6-2, 6-4, 6-4 for the biggest win of his career.
🇺🇸 Jessica Pegula made very quick work of Sofia Kenin. She won 6-3, 6-1 in 56 minutes, dropping only seven points on serve.

🇫🇷 Gaël Monfils celebrated his 40th birthday by coming back to beat Adolfo Daniel Vallejo 2-6, 6-1, 6-2, 6-0 in his final US Open. He’s the oldest man to win a singles match here since Jimmy Connors in 1992.
🇰🇿 Yulia Putintseva pulled off the biggest women’s upset of the day, knocking out No. 12 seed Belinda Bencic 4-6, 7-5, 6-3.
🇺🇸 Coco Gauff is through. The 2023 champion beat Zeynep Sonmez 6-3, 6-4 to begin her chase for a second US Open title.
