Dolmenwood is Dark Fairy Tale. Yes there's the "whimsy" (as it's usually described), but from what I can tell it's a fell place in which alien beings (the Fairy) and dark forces (e.g. the Nag Lord) and ancient powers encircle a few tiny orbs of civilization.

Dolmenwood Monster Book: Honestly, the artwork is varaible. There is one artist I really don't like. But I love the way the book is organised and the quality of the writing. So usable for a GM. Take a look at a couple of entries (unless you want to avoid spoilers)

@IHitItWithMyAxe I'm really curious about this book. It's amazing and rather sad that I've spent 3 1/2 years playing RPG's and reading widely (and bought Vornheim a while ago) but never heard of this book until Jan 1st. It's off radar and that's a real shame. I'll be checking it out!
