@EndymionYT@DestinLegarie I was hoping they would make God of Mischief and that would be a game about Atreus/Loki with different gameplay, stealth and trap-setting, befitting the name.
@PaulTassi It's not about the game, it's about the game journalism, and its erosion. IGN's 10 shows that their reviews cannot be trusted (again). The "hate" towards the game is just an outlet. It will be soon forgotten, just like many other games.
@CarlosOsler2@Raquayza19@animeupdates I missed the word "not". They are not (just) glazing. All they do is exist to be saved by, or to be beaten by Jin-Woo. That is their purpose as characters. You and I have a more interesting interaction here right now than any SL side-character with Jin-Woo.
@CarlosOsler2@Raquayza19@animeupdates Yeah, that is bad writing - characters just exiting the frame once they have served their roles. Listen, there is nothing wrong with liking Solo Leveling, I am not attacking your taste here. All I am saying is that the writing is bad and underdeveloped.
@CarlosOsler2@Raquayza19@animeupdates No, I am saying "glazing." There are many ways in which they can demonstrate the awesomeness of MC: 1. Be in danger. 2. Be in awe. 3. Be powerful foils. 4. Be charismatic villains to beat. The role remains the same, though.
@CarlosOsler2@Raquayza19@animeupdates You kinda confirmed my point... Jin-Woo did not form deep relationships or meaningfully engage with other characters. A main character can be both a symbol to others and a compelling character, e.g., Batman, and that would be much better writing.
@CarlosOsler2@Raquayza19@animeupdates According to basic principles of storytelling. Character arc is nonexistent and is replaced by stats growing. Side characters have almost no meaning or function. Conflict loses any friction as the story progresses.
Easy litmus test:
Do you identify with the zombie vampires that eat people because they look sad sometimes
Or
The living human being that doesnโt eat people who just had his best friend murdered by the zombie vampires
