I see so many takes so let’s push this matter a little further

I see some people saying that “did we not clear the table for our fathers when we were growing up”??

The relationship between husband and wife is very different from that of parents and their children

Your wife is not your child. I find it weird that we are making those correlations.

Secondly, I don’t believe honour is tied to chores.

Honour is honour and chores are chores

This is why as a woman i dont feel i am a slave because i am cleaning my home

When you employ a help and they wash your clothes or clear your table is it because they honour you?

Some are also saying that in the African context, our mothers used to serve our fathers. That was a different time. A time when men went to work so hard and women took care of the home alone. In that context, of course the woman cook and did chores because that washer contribution to the home

In today’s capitalist society where one income is hardly enough for the average family, you can’t put those same burdens on women

A man goes to work

The woman goes to work too

It is wickedness to expect the woman alone to still carry the burden of chores and childcare alone

This is also the reason why I don’t agree with women that say “my money is my money but the man’s money is for the family”

A good marriage is dynamic.

While we can have division of labour and primary roles for functionality, we should also be super flexible and ready to step into any shoe that is necessary to keep our home running well

A woman should work to support the home

A man should also do chores and childcare.

The fact that times have changed and roles has become more dynamic does not mean we are losing values

Once upon a time, we lived in mud houses and did not have cell phones
