Hey #edibuddies! Maybe this is a long shot, but here goes: is there a freelance genre fiction editor out there who would let me interview them for an assignment? No more than 15-20 minutes focusing on your editing career. I promise I'm nice to talk to and not (too) weird.
What is a sample edit?
A sample edit is the best way to make sure an editor is the right fit for you and your project. #authors#indieauthor#freelancelife
When I do a sample edit, I like to edit 1,000 words (or about 5 pages) of your manuscript at the level we've agreed to. Not sure what your writing needs? I can show you what kind of editing I think will be most beneficial for your project.
More importantly, it can tell me whether I am the right editor for you to work with.
If I'm not the right person for the job, I'm more than happy to refer you to someone who might be.
The best part, though. . . It’s free!
When I return it to you, you'll be able to see my editing style and what you can expect if you work with me.
So what do I get out of it? I get an idea of how long your project will take so I can give you an accurate price quote and timeline.
Good news: I've finally found the dark and spooky ambient playlist of my dreams. Sharing here for anyone else who needs something creepy to listen to while they work. 🐙 #freelance#editor#wfhlife#HorrorCommunity https://t.co/q2aVwjpAyQ
I can't believe there's only one session of #ACES2021Online left. Other conference goers: what session has been the most impactful for you? What should I prioritize when I watch the recordings?
Thank you @Sighdell for setting this up. I was one of the excited people, but I was overwhelmed by the logistics of it. I'm excited to have put my name on the list. 😊
People at the ACES impostor syndrome session were excited by the idea of mastermind groups, so I created a Google spreadsheet to help people sort themselves into groups. I'm not sure this is the best way to gather, but I thought I'd try it.

Quoting Blake Morrison: “When a book appears, the author must take the credit. But if editing disappears, there'll be no books worth taking credit for.” —Anissa Gray #ACES2021Online
Starting day 2 of #ACES2021Online with "Overcoming Imposter Syndrome." Time to change "why me?" to "why not me?" @GrammarParty @turntopage2 @CCCopyEditor
