Tough loss for my @steelers. Who had Cleveland at 3-1 to start the season? One of the best games I’ve seen in a long time, despite the loss. Amazing rivalry

I’m incredibly sorry to hear this, Lauren. Devastating day for so many. If I can be of any assistance, pls let me know. You’re smart + a well-rounded journalist. Others would be fortunate to have you.

[Lauren Gorla @LaurenGorla]

Haven’t been on this app in quite some time, and unfortunately I’m back to share some bad news — I was one of the folks impacted by today’s layoffs around McClatchy.

On a day when so many of the headlines are devastating — for journalists + the readers and communities they serve.

Good journalism news

[Rick Green @EditorRAG]

Journalism (and more specifically, content) takes many forms these days. A journalist’s skills + training can transcend a “traditional” newsroom. Our motivation to make the world a better, more transparent + accountable place often leads to those different + better places, Andres

[Andres David Lopez @ADLReporter]

@EditorRAG @courierjournal @heraldleader Seems like more doors and newsrooms closing than doors opening in journalism. But sure.

[Rick Green @EditorRAG]

@TessaDuvall Let me say this: Working w/you in KY’s 2 largest newsrooms was a career highlight for me. Your passion for the commonwealth, your co-workers + Big J journalism in politics + watchdog work has been inspiring. From Breonna Taylor to Beshear, you have made a difference + will again!

[Rick Green @EditorRAG]

Amen, Jackie. Amen

[Jackie Starkey @jackiesreports]

I have a lot to say, but for now: Kentucky is far worse off than it was yesterday. Local journalists are vital to a functioning democracy.

I am so, so incredibly proud of each of every one of the journalists at @heraldleader. My colleagues, my friends. https://t.co/ira03oRhcj

If you're looking for a talented young political reporter 👇🏿

[Rick Green @EditorRAG]

@HannahPinski You’ve done outstanding work, Hannah. This is a deep blow to you, the HL + readers across KY. However I can help, please reach out! There’s something even bigger out there for you.

[Rick Green @EditorRAG]

I served as editor of both @courierjournal + @heraldleader + deeply respect those talented staffs. That’s why it hurts so much to see the deep cuts in LEX today. So many OUTSTANDING journos being affected. I’m so sorry. Trust me: 1 door closes, a better one opens. I’m cheering 4U

[Rick Green @EditorRAG]

And I thought nothing could top those ugly-as-hell uniforms. Leave it to a replay official

Ladies and Gentlemen, the former Governor of Kentucky.

"The sheriff had come and was showing (Bevin's) picture and asked if anyone had seen him – they said, 'Oh, yes, he's on set,' and they directed him that way. He was sitting in the dining room talking to the lead actor when he was arrested." https://t.co/qYpjiZkq8i

What a fun Summer Shindig at @gazettedotcom — good food, big laughs, fun games + unyielding determination to make a difference for readers + advertisers in IOWA. So humbled to be part of this talented #OneIowa Team. @PublishingAdams

[Rick Green @EditorRAG]

@jackiesreports @889WEKU The @889WEKU crew is blessed to have you — not to mention all your listeners. Kick butt + make a difference, Jackie. Good luck!

[Rick Green @EditorRAG]

In KY today, my friend + former hire @alexvalentine33 is ending his stint as @heraldleader ME. A HUGE loss for the LEX team. He returns to @stltoday after guiding award-winning content while always being a great person + coach in a challenging industry. U made a difference, Alex!

[Rick Green @EditorRAG]

The @MiamiHerald is gaining a helluva talented reporter, storyteller + watchdog. I loved our time together at @heraldleader. He knows readers demand ** real ** journalism + more than just utilitarian AI-driven content. Kick ass, Austin. I’ll be watching + cheering from IOWA.

[Austin Horn @_AustinHorn]

Today is day number 2 at the Miami Herald and my email ([email protected]) is live! Looking forward to getting to know South Florida better & doing some great work here.

Please reach out with any news, tips, food recs, camping recs, etc.
