Today I go to work for the first time since Aug '23. The film industry radically changed after the writers and actors strike, the near IATSE strike, and the burst of the streaming bubble. I'm grateful to be working in film again, but very uncertain of the future of this industry.

Just got what appears to be a phishing scam from a person impersonating a rep at Eastern Talent. Man these scammers are getting sophisticated. I'm like 95% certain it's fake, but the 5% of me that is like I need a lifeline and this could be it is like click it!

@AmIaGhosst It's a very rough time to be graduating. The good news is you're still young. A lot more opportunities for you at that age. My entire resume is assistant editing. It's hard to get a job at 39 doing anything different with zero experience in the field.

@DynamicScreen Yeah two things: much of my network isn't working. The result is some of them have left the industry altogether, and shrinking my network. Then a number of the producers I've worked with stopped working in the US as well. It feels like I'm fresh out of college again.

At 2 am Spotify randomly played the last song loaded in my app. The kicker? The last song, as part of my routine to turn on my Christmas lights, was a track of Santa Claus flying by in his sleigh and saying ho ho ho. Could have been an amazing glitch on Christmas Eve.

Very sad to see the news of @ScottWamplerRIP's passing. He helped me grow my appreciation for Stephen King with the @Kingcast19 and convinced me to read Revival with his constant praise. We never met, but he had an impact nonetheless. Rest in peace Scott.
