I saw how refugees have access to healthcare, education, and play an active part in society benefiting the whole community.
This is how we move from aid dependency to self-reliance.
Kenya is doing its part. It needs greater international support.
At Culinary Bridges, we celebrated the power of community engagement through food, music and dance. Ukrainian and Serbian dishes brought people together, showcasing solidarity, learning and the importance of social inclusion of refugees in Serbia.
People from across continents who have found new #HOPE in Serbia joined locals to build bridges through cooking, sharing stories, and celebrating traditions. Food brings us together, creating connections that turn new places into home. #CulinaryBridges
The start of 2025 brings new ways to support those helping @Refugees and asylum seekers in Serbia. 🙏
With UNHCR's support, NGOs and institutions will be more inclusive and have more tools to aid refugee children and adults in building better futures.
#HopeAwayFromHome
People who found new #HOPE in Serbia brought skills and talents that enrich our communities.

Thank you to Ambassador @gori_luca & @ItalyinSerbia for nurturing inclusive cultural events. In a world where people are displaced daily, sharing meals and stories becomes a guiding light toward hope, unity and integration.
Culinary bridges in Italian colors!
For #SCIM2024, we shared meals, stories, and cultures. Iraqi & Iranian chefs cooked with students & Chef Nicolai, while Ukrainian & Afghan artists filled the air with music.
Thanks to @ItalyinSerbia for supporting @Refugees' integration in 🇷🇸.
Productive meetings with the @KIRS_SRBIJA managers in Vranje and Bujanovac. Grateful for the longstanding cooperation between the Commissariat and @UNHCRSerbia, which ensures protection and support for people forced to flee.
Together, we’re making a difference.
Had a fruitful discussion with the mayor of Bujanovac. It’s encouraging to see the commitment from local leaders to work alongside @UNHCRSerbia in addressing the needs of forcibly displaced people.
Looking forward to our continued partnership.
We are saddened by the tragic loss of lives in the Drina river between Serbia and BiH.
UNHCR is on the ground, working with authorities and partners to support survivors and ensure they receive urgent assistance.
No one should have to risk their life seeking safety.
For 120 million people, fleeing home was not a choice but the only option to survive. On World Refugee Day, @Refugees need our solidarity more than ever.
Behind each refugee, there is a human story. We need to give them hope to rebuild their lives.
Today we talked with @giz_gmbh about participatory inclusion, as a right, in the context of their project 'Social participation of people on the move& local population in host regions of the Western Balkans’ the component implemented in Serbia

We visited a @KIRS_SRBIJA transit centre in Bosilegrad and had a fruitful discussion with the Mayor Mr. Zaharijev on finding solutions for forcibly displaced persons seeking protection in Serbia.
Collaboration with local municipalities is key for durable solutions for @Refugees.
Last year, UNHCR worked to reach the people who needed us most, at the time they needed it most, wherever crises hit.

On Ukraine’s Unity Day we visited one of five underground schools set up in Kharkiv metro stations where children can learn in safety and warmth — a sign of the huge disruptions which the war has brought to everybody’s life, but also a strong symbol of Ukrainian resilience.
Meet Linda and Olivier, @Refugees originally from Burundi, who found hope in Serbia amidst the challenges of refugee life. Their son, Dušan, symbolizes their unity and love. 💙
