Uganda has officially become the 26th nation to join the global Invictus Community, marking a major milestone in the country's commitment to supporting the recovery and rehabilitation of wounded, injured and sick service personnel and veterans through sport.
The announcement was made by the Invictus Games Foundation during its "From Policy to Practice" conversation in London, where Uganda also confirmed its participation in the Invictus Games Birmingham 2027, becoming only the second African nation to join the movement.
To support Uganda's preparations, the Foundation has awarded an initial £15,000 development grant to provide sports equipment and establish recovery programmes for serving personnel and veterans.
Minister of Defence and Veteran Affairs, Hon @KiryowaKk , welcomed Uganda's admission into the Invictus Community, describing it as a significant step towards strengthening rehabilitation, resilience and reintegration for the country's servicemen and women through the power of sport.
Uganda will make its historic debut at the Invictus Games Birmingham 2027, joining competitors from around the world in an international celebration of recovery, resilience and the unconquered human spirit.
