@Anthonysmdoyle As a supporter of women, I don’t think women are done any favors by conflating bad women with all women. Some are lying assholes. Nobody is served by making an entire gender a paragon of virtue despite multiple examples to the contrary.
@LauraRBelin@LizMair He wasn’t heavily promoted. He has a ton of support in the state and absolutely crushed a sitting D governor to the point that she suspended her campaign. His support is organic which is why I don’t see this as a death knell. He may lose a little support, but he’s not Mills.
@RealLifeLizLemn@artangeIs@PeterTwinklage She could be, but discovery would essentially be he said/she said, and if there were allegations of crimes, that’s a higher standard to meet. So this is below that threshold where a lawsuit would not necessarily be helpful, but the seed has been planted.
@Lucius0@PeterTwinklage What would make it credible is corroboration. She apparently never mentioned this to her friends, one of whom is Betheny Mandel who you should read about.
@RealLifeLizLemn@artangeIs@PeterTwinklage She would open herself up to a slander case in which she would have to prove the lie or face potential financial ruin. That’s why she went out of her way to deny that he ever hit her.
@pteridoid@SamGreszes I was everything hipster and these were the bands I listened to. But I avoided hipster establishments because I hated that gatekeeping as much as I hated it when I was a fan of punk bands. Nobody fucking cares if you heard of it first. That shit is boring.
@SamGreszes It’s not often you see somebody who was an obnoxious gatekeeper owning up to it.
It’s a list of bands that weren’t mainstream, but made listenable music. And some pretty solid albums as opposed to singles.
@MarlonEttinger It details an uncorroborated claim that the claimant goes out of her way to distinguish it from a crime. Which matters wrt slander liability, which I’m sure the claimant understands, as does NYT.
@RadioFreeTom She suspended her campaign and the reason for that was her path to victory was not worth the money it would take to be remotely worth the attempt. And it still won’t be.
