✨ Publishing Day Party ✨
Ss shared their books in the Author’s Chair, received compliments and q’s from peers and then added their books to our classroom library. 📚I shared a book I made in Gr. 3 and one I later self-published to show that writing continues throughout life.
Our class celebrated with a Lunar New Year parade! 🐉🏮Our amazing DECE brought in a beautiful dragon and we also paraded with student-created dragons. The excitement was contagious and the students loved every minute! 🌸✨ Happy belated Lunar New Year to all who celebrated! 🧧🐎

We learned about this fun February 2 tradition, made predictions, practiced tally marks, and created a craft before watching the big reveal! 👀
This year, Wiarton Willie did NOT see his shadow — early spring is on the way! 🌸✨
❄️ Snow Day! ❄️
Due to inclement weather, all @YRDSB are closed today. An authentic snow day—just like we remember from childhood! ☃️ Enjoy building snowmen, reading cozy books, baking, crafting, or dancing together at home.
Stay safe & warm! 💙❄️
🎉 Happy New Year 2026! 🎉
We welcomed the year by crafting New Year’s crowns 👑 and painting a handprint poster 🎨. Excited for all the learning and joy this year will bring! ✨📚 @CHPSYRDSB
❄️✨ Holiday joy in our classroom! Our Ss created winter ornaments and fingerprint cards to gift their families. 📚 Huge thank you to @FirstBookCanada for donating storybooks for all Primary Ss and especially for newcomers to Canada. It brightened our Ss day! @CHPSYRDSB
❄️✨ Kindies learned & shared about holidays this month. Shab-e Yalda, Christmas, Hanukkah, and Kwanzaa—through videos, songs, and crafts. These experiences supported the Belonging & Contributing frame of learning as we celebrated our diverse community. 💛❄️ @CHPSYRDSB
I just had to try the viral box photos at our staff holiday party and with my Ss on the last day before the break—and it turned out SO cute! 📦✨📸 Such a fun and creative idea and all participants had a laugh creating it!💙🎄 @CHPSYRDSB
❄️✨ A big thank you to our families for coming to the Kindie Winter Concert! Our Ss shined while performing Little Snowflake, I’m a Little Snowman, and the K-I-N-D song. The mosaic snowflake props and cozy gym decorations made it extra special. So proud! @CHPSYRDSB
📖✨ Read The Gift of Words by Peter H. Reynolds. We 🗣️how words can lift others, inspire kindness, and connect us — an important reminder during the holiday season. Each student & their family chose a meaningful word & they were strung together on our class🎄✨ @CHPSYRDSB
👀✨ Thank you to all our JK families who joined us for JK Observation Week!
@YRDSB highlights the importance of family partnership in Kindergarten & gives families a chance to see the play-based learning, social growth & classroom routines their children experience @CHPSYRDSB
📚💙 Last month we read stories with inclusive & anti-bullying themes to support our 🏫 initiatives. “Be You,” “Be Kind,” “Zero,” “One,” and “Two.”
Key messages: be yourself, choose kindness, everyone has value, stand up for others, and build fair, caring friendships. @CHPSYRDSB
“A poppy is to remember.” ❤️
Our Kindie Ss created a collaborative handprint wreath with poppies to present at our Remembrance Day assembly this morning🌺
Students also made beautiful plasticine poppies with our prep coverage teacher. 🌸 @CHPSYRDSB
🌟 In our class we value the importance of reaching all learners. We use written, verbal & visual cues. One great tool: a pre-recorded button 🔊 with instructions in English and a child’s home language. Learned about this from YRDSB’s Great Beginnings! 💛 @CHPSYRDSB
Our field turned into a Pumpkin Patch today @CHPSYRDSB 🍂🎃
Each student and staff member picked their very own mini pumpkin to take home. 🧡
A fun and festive fall activity that put a smile on everyone’s faces🍁 Thank you for the start of a beautiful tradition!
