@DynamicDeps I really want to but find it hard to find the time. I want to protect the time next session. I think it is such a great way to build relationships and trust with staff and children.
@GuyClaxton Loved The Future of Teaching! Reignited a passion for reading and discussing education again. Definitely reclaimed some of the territory held by neo-traditionalists for some time. Would love to chat on podcast if you would be keen?
Such a great morning working on our school song project with @echlineprimary today. Our music education students from @EdinburghNapier are helping the P7 classes to write a song for the school. Wonderful ideas and enthusiasm from the young people. A joy to see this take shape!
@ATeachingScot I think schools should be able to celebrate their unique setting and community, but agreed that vision of education at a large, visionary, philosophical level should be a bigger discussion - lots of wheels being reinvented
Anyone else frustrated by the relentless push for efficiency and practical solutions in education? As if it is some linear, technical profession with easy answers?
@chokandtok Largely outside commentators, I understand the pressure staff are under to be more efficient or seek practical solutions, but the focus on practicality restricts us (staff) from being able to think of the bigger picture.
I recently wrote a blog post that @tombennett71 and a lot of other people disagreed with. I have continued my thinking here to add to the discussion and respond to some of the comments made. https://t.co/RZY2X7IMVx
@musicteachinguk@tombennett71 No, I think they are learning about a system that is unfair and unjust where compliance is valued above being critical of the world around you. You may succeed in this system by following rules, but you won’t change that which you see as unfair.
@oldandrewuk@tombennett71 I disagree with your claim of indoctrination because it suggests a forceful teaching of ideas with uncritical acceptance. This is exactly what I am arguing against, the term actually seems more accurate when describing low/zero tolerance ‘behaviour management’ systems.

@oldandrewuk@tombennett71 What are they learning while you are teaching them? Also, political indoctrination is your term and I disagree with it. I agree that my argument is explicitly political, but no more or less so than yours.
