Although I wasn't able to make it to New Jersey for the International Society for the Sociology of Music Education conference, it was great to get the opportunity to present this online. It was also lovely to get the opportunity to see the work of some friends and colleagues!
It was great to play a part in organising this event at @EdinburghNapier in which we were exploring ways to develop music education provision for adults in rural Scotland and celebrating the work of @CIMSRS, Arianna Ranieri's excellent PhD project! #musiceducation#ruralscotland
🎻 | “This project has had a huge impact on people across Fife, including Auchtermuchty in my constituency, and it’s fantastic to see such great efforts to ensure music education is more accessible for adults in rural Scotland." - Liberal Democrat MP @wendychambLD.
An #EdNapier PhD student’s endeavour to teach music to adults in rural parts of Scotland has been hailed for its ‘huge impact’.

I have a PhD student who is looking to recruit classroom music teachers (not instrumental instructors!) in Scotland for study. It would involve speaking to her for around 45 minutes (online or in person) about your experiences of teaching music. Please contact me if you can help!

@MrsJTeaches Hi Susannah. So sorry, I have been away from X for a while and am only checking intermittently, meaning that I am only seeing this now. If it's not too late I would be very happy to help. Sorry for the delay.
This is an excellent project and one that is bringing so much joy through music education to rural areas in Scotland. It is a pleasure to be supervising Arianna's PhD and to see the incredible work that she's doing in this area. For more info, check out @CIMSRS#musiceducation
🎻 | An innovative music project, led by an #EdNapier PhD student, aims to inspire adults in Fife to come together and pick up an instrument – following success on a west coast island.
During the first part of the unique project, Arianna Ranieri ran 12 weeks of free violin and viola (upper strings) lessons in Millport on Great Cumbrae.
A group of around 20 participants, many of whom had not played before, quickly formed – with the lessons and jam sessions culminating in a Christmas concert attended by people from across the island.
From tomorrow (11 Jan), the project arrives in Auchtermuchty for its next run.

Bikes been nicked. This is the only recent pic I have. Old green Kona mahuna, slx brakes, DT dynamo hub, dt swiss and Mavic wheels. Built it all myself. Not worth much but massively so to me. Anyone happens to spot it please let me know
There were some beautiful things happening in the sky outside the kitchen window last night. I know the internet is saturated (pun intended!) with these at the moment but it’s the first time I’ve caught the aurora on camera and I find it mesmerising! #aurora#AuroraBorealis
