This week is National Nursing Week.
Nurses keep our healthcare system running. You show up every day in ERs, ICUs, long-term care homes, and clinics, stretched too thin and facing burnout while the system fails to support you.
That's why I'm pushing for safe nurse-to-patient ratios: 1 nurse for every 4 patients, maximum.
You deserve the support to do your job the way you know it should be done.
Thank you for everything you do. You take care of us, and you deserve the very best in return.
Asian Heritage Month
May is Asian Heritage Month in Canada. It is a time to reflect on and recognize the many contributions that people of Asian origin have made and continue to make to Canada.
1 in 5 youth are living with a mental health illness. Yet too many families face months-long wait-lists, overwhelmed systems, and the impossible choice between paying for help or going without it.
Youth are asking for support. We must stop responding with silence, stigma, and underfunding.
Mental health care is not a luxury. It is essential healthcare. This means real investment in counsellors, community programs, crisis services, school supports, and early intervention – before young people reach a breaking point.
Check in. Listen. Advocate. Vote for policies that fund care. Demand better.
Because no young person should have to fight alone just to be heard. #YouthMentalHealth #MentalHealthAwareness
