To celebrate the release of Christopher Nolan's The Odyssey, in cinemas now, we have three official merch packs to give away. RT for a chance to win! [ad] 18+/ UK only/ T&Cs below.
@fiendformojitos And additionally how he did it using a gift from Athena as the way to break this rule. The fact too that the citizens of Troy demanded it be burned but Trojans said no this gift means something to us and the gods. Felt like everything was hanging by a thread and this cut it
the first two thirds of The Odyssey had me kinda going “I mean this is really good but it’s just…pretty much The Odyssey!” and then the third act hit and I was levitating into the ceiling and ready to watch again ASAP
One interesting thing about Scylla in The Odyssey is how she looked Villeneuve-y. Very similar to the aliens in Arrival and the worms from Dune. I wonder if Nolan was inspired by this when working out how to incorporate monsters that belonged in reality. Dying to see concept art
I present my fan casts for Emma
I think Mikey would be great if they want someone roughly the same age as the rumoured casts they’re circling around for x-men
I feel the same positive excitement about Matt Reeves’ Batman as I do Absolute Batman. Passionate creatives who’re respectful of the source material getting to tackle the mythology in an isolated way that allows for unique approaches that get fans so excited. It’s incredible!
The light had its turn.
Marvel Comics introduces Midnight, a bold new publishing line from a superstar lineup of creators, kicking off in August with ‘Midnight X-Men’ by Jonathan Hickman and Matteo Della Fonte, followed by ‘Midnight Fantastic Four’ by Benjamin Percy and Kev Walker and ‘Midnight Spider-Man’ by Phillip Kennedy Johnson and Scie Tronc.
Marvel’s most definitive modern creators are given free rein to reimagine heroes with shocking twists and chilling transformations in boundary-less storytelling that will keep readers on edge issue after issue.
The X-Men no longer fight for acceptance, they hunger for blood. The Fantastic Four venture into the unknown not to save the world—but to unleash terror upon it. And Spider-Man discovers that with great power… comes something monstrous.
I keep seeing people complain about this whole dad issue in The Odyssey. But people need to remember the Ancient Greek word for “father” was actually “mαττδαmφn”
So by casting Matt Damon as Odysseus, Nolan is actually being very accurate to the time period.
A true genius.
Would’ve been so fantastic if it played out exactly like it did in the finale but then at the end when we’re introduced to Jake it flashes back to reveal the full sequence of him taking control and filling in the blank
