Very disappointed to see that @AramHur's latest paper in @koreaobserver has six completely fabricated citations.
Academic integrity matters, people.
A short 🧵
Looked at the Google Scholar profile of Onipe Adabenege Yahaya a few days ago, but thought we'd try and track down some of the papers.
The journals seem to be valid journals, but if you look at those journals or search for the papers (by title) you can't find them - well I can't. Perhaps some exist, perhaps I am searching wrong - but I am struggling.
If you click on the papers many are published by Skillsoft Publishers. I cannot find this publisher. If you can please let me know.
Every paper (well on this initial screen) has been published in issue 5 of the journal. This seems a little strange, unless anybody can argue otherwise?

An MIT writing professor on his students using AI:
"I realized that for the first time as a writing professor, I had to deal with students producing words without work, which wasn’t quite plagiarism and wasn’t quite paying for someone else to do the job, but it felt like a kind of naive chicanery; a perversion of the contract between writer and reader."

My advice to students who want to move to ML for predictive analysis: nail econometrics first. This may sound like a no-brainer but brother I've met too many people who just have gone straight to the former.
It will take Malawi 21 years of Chinese-style 7% growth to reach Kenya's current GDP per capita.
There's huge variation in incomes within Sub-Saharan Africa, which often goes ignored.
What if better policy decisions across Africa started with stronger evidence?
