It's also that the real cost of these crazy rules can't be really measured, as some suggest.
For the big companies, you can come up with a nice percentage, and say these are the costs.
But for small to medium businesses, how are you going to measure that?
Hiring a wrong employee could mean the end of your business. This won't show up in any figured.
Small business can't grow because of reluctance to hire people.
Many employees are on temp. contracts instead. They can't get a mortgage.
I could go on..
Crazy laws.
Exactly. It's a typical Dutch thing. Probably it's a combination the of 'inviting' rules as discussed, and Dutch calvinist mentalitity. Stubbornness, not willing to admit that you need a change of career, putting the blame on non-functioning the employer or even the colleagues. There are/have been many court cases over these kind of cases.
I agree it's strange that this doesn't hit the economy much harder, but actually there's no real way this can be measured: small size companies who won't grow, because of these stupid laws, people who are NOT hired. You can´ t hire people on temp. contracts forever. And the negatives for being hired on a temp. contract: you can't get a mortage.
This is going on for so long already, also with regard to royal unemployment rules, the left has recently succeeded defending those as well. Welcome in the Netherlands.
Do you really think Ukrain can win this war? At what cost? I think China is key here, yet nobody seems to talk about China. As long as China supports Russia, the war will continue, at least for a while. The EU has to pay for all of this. We're dependent on the US to sell us the weapons. If they don't, or we'll run out of money, or both, Ukrain loses.
If the war takes long enough, China will own Russia. And the US does not want that. That's why they cozy up with Putin. Why doesn't the EU send some diplomats to China, maybe India and others, to convince them to stop helping Russia? It's key, yet the EU is lethargic, brainless. They don't even try. They have no role on the world stage anymore. It's horrible.
And what is your plan?
@Stupnitskyy@Karin_uutgrunn@H_Bouwmeester Yes, I understand that. But somehow all was mishandled, or we wouldn't be in this war. Not blaming Ukrain for wanting protection from Russia. If "Nyet Means Nyet" was taken more serious, maybe we wouldn't be here today.
@Stupnitskyy@Karin_uutgrunn@H_Bouwmeester For example, before 2014, there were regularly big NATO exercises in Ukraine, like Sea Breeze, Rapid Trident. Does that really look 'neutral'? I doubt it. Besides in 2008 already, there was the famous "Nyet Means Nyet".
Yes, and do you know what the official line is?: they were 'assurances' , not 'guarantuees'. Legally these terms are different it seems, in that 'assurances' just means that the countries that signed it, would respect the sovereignty of Ukr. But they would not have to interfere if other countries would invade. Russia obviously broke the memorandum in 2014.
Google it, it's interesting as apparently 'assurances' was wrongly translated as 'guarantuees' in Ukrainian, misleadingly, to get it through the Ukr. parliament.
@EvgenKostyk@H_Bouwmeester Yes, in spite of all I have said, I think we should support Ukrain. My critiscism is not directed at Ukrain or the Ukrainian people.
I think Trump is acting irresponsibly at the moment, very much so.
