Eid Mubarak!
Today as we honor Prophet Ibrahim, Eid al-Adha reminds us that sacrifice is not a burden. It is an opportunity to see ourselves as part of something larger. To extend a hand to those who need it most.
I am honored to be New York City's first Muslim Mayor and I am determined to lead through solidarity. Together, we are working to ensure every New Yorker can afford the groceries, housing, and child care they need.
Our solidarity is our strength. Eid Saeed, New York.
Thrilled to share that my research has been published by ESR. Grateful for this milestone and even more grateful for the amazing colleagues @AlyasaaAnas@EedreesMd and @Mohflawless ,who made it possible. Feeling happy

FORMAL REBUTTAL STATEMENT ON BEHALF OF THE FAMILY OF ABDULSAMAD JAMIU (DECEASED)
In Response to the HQ Nigerian Army Official Account of Events of 25th April 2026
Incident Location: Dei-Dei Shagari Quarters, Abuja, Federal Capital Territory
Victim: Abdulsamad Jamiu, Male, 24 Years of Age
Date of Statement: 26th April 2026
PRELIMINARY NOTE
This statement is issued on behalf of the immediate family of the late Abdulsamad Jamiu, who was killed in the early hours of Saturday, 25th April 2026, at his residence in Dei-Dei Shagari Quarters, Abuja. It is issued in direct and formal response to the account of events published by the Nigerian Military, which the family, supported by physical evidence, witness testimony, and the military’s own partial admissions, categorically rejects as false, misleading, and an affront to the memory of an innocent young man.
The family is not issuing this statement in anger alone. They are issuing it in the interest of truth, accountability, and the rule of law — values which the Nigerian Military, as an institution of the Federal Republic of Nigeria, is constitutionally obligated to uphold.
SECTION I: ESTABLISHED FACTS
The following facts are not in dispute and form the foundation of this rebuttal:
1. At approximately 2:00 a.m. on Saturday, 25th April 2026, personnel of the Nigerian Military entered the residential premises of the Jamiu family at Dei-Dei Shagari Quarters, Abuja.
2. At the time of the incident, Abdulsamad Jamiu, aged 24 years, was present inside his room within the family residence. His sister was also present in the house. Their parents were absent, having travelled to Okene to attend a burial ceremony.
3. Nigerian Military personnel discharged a firearm at close range through the door of Abdulsamad’s room. The shot struck Abdulsamad Jamiu in the head, killing him instantly.
4. The trajectory of the bullet — confirmed by physical examination of the bullet hole, which runs from the room door to the wall of the room — conclusively establishes that the shot was fired from outside the room, through the closed door, into the room where Abdulsamad Jamiu was situated.
5. On hearing the gunshot, Abdulsamad’s sister rushed downstairs, whereupon she was instructed by the soldiers present to go outside and “calm down.”
6. Neighbours who heard the gunshot contacted the community vigilante group. Upon their arrival, vigilante members were instructed by the military personnel to mop up the blood and flush it — a directive which, in itself, raises grave questions about the military’s intent to preserve an evidence-intact crime scene.
7. The body of Abdulsamad Jamiu was subsequently conveyed to Kubwa General Hospital by the police, who had arrived at the scene. The family was compelled to endure hours of statements and administrative paperwork before being granted access to retrieve their son’s remains for burial.
8. The military personnel present at the scene, when confronted by the family regarding the killing of their son, acknowledged that the shooting of Abdulsamad Jamiu was a mistake and that they had killed an innocent person. This acknowledgement was made in the presence of the Divisional Police Officer (DPO) and was recorded in a written statement.
SECTION II: THE MILITARY’S ACCOUNT AND ITS SPECIFIC CONTRADICTIONS
The Nigerian Military has publicly claimed that its personnel were engaged in active pursuit of armed robbers and that the fatal shooting of Abdulsamad Jamiu occurred in the course of an exchange of gunfire. The family rejects this account in its entirety and presents the following point-by-point rebuttal, each supported by verifiable evidence or the absence of evidence where the military bears the burden of proof:
Ground 1: The Physical Evidence Disproves an “Exchange of Gunfire”
The military’s claim of an exchange of gunfire is irreconcilable with the physical evidence present at the scene.
On the early hours of Saturday 26 of April 2026 by 2am, my best friend A young graduate who just finished school last year and currently serving his country and was meant to pass out just next month was KILLED BY THE NIGERIAN ARMY. @HQNigerianArmy@PoliceNG_CRU@sowore@PeterObi@officialnyscng @vdmempire @BenHundeyin
While at home with his siblings (his parents were away), 3 armed military men forced their way into their house around 2am claiming they were chasing a thief.
They encountered him and he locked his door like anyone would do to protect themselves and his siblings because he was the eldest and he has a duty to protect his siblings. they shot through the door multiple times, A bullet hit his head and another hit his stomach. They killed him in his own home.
It didn’t end there.
They prevented his sister from going to him. They tried to stop her from calling for help and when help finally came, his body was taken away. The soldiers called the local vigilante to come and clean the scene. The scene was cleaned and the house was locked down. No clear answers were given. This happened in Dakwa Abuja, it’s not longer rumors that we aren’t safe, not even in our homes.
This was someone’s son. Someone’s brother. Someone’s friend.
He was kind. He was good. He had a future.
This cannot be swept under the rug.
We are demanding accountability. We are demanding answers. We are demanding justice.

The Nigerian authorities must investigate the reckless use of fire arms by the military that killed a girl in Maiduguri Borno state.
The 14-years-old secondary school student was killed on Saturday 4 April after being hit by a stray bullet while inside her home. The fatal shot was reportedly fired by military personnel engaged in celebratory gunfire during a wedding ceremony at a nearby event center.
A family friend of the victim said:
“She (the deceased) lived in the University of Maiduguri Teaching Hospital (UMTH) quarters with her family and was inside her home when the tragedy occurred. She had just finished applying henna for her mother and herself, joyfully preparing for a family wedding scheduled for that same day.”
While her funeral was held this morning at Maiduguri graveyard, her family and friends are left seeking answers for a death that was entirely preventable.
Amnesty International calls for a transparent, impartial and effective investigation of the incident to safeguard lives and ensure justice.
Two people, Affan and Waspapping have been arrested so far in Nigeria, allegedly because of posts they made about the US and Israel!
So criticizing the US and Israel is now a crime in Nigeria?
If Khamenei were truly killed in his home in Tehran, it would suggest he did not attempt to evade it. It would imply that he accepted the possibility, perhaps even embraced the prospect, of a martyr’s end.
There is no remarkable intelligence achievement in killing someone in their own residence. Only the foolish would frame it as such.
Imagine if Iran bombed Washington and killed students in schools, what would you call it? Terrorists
The U.S. and Israel bombed Tehran and killed students in schools. Why do you call it a "pre-emptive strike"?
Bombing a school is a war crime under international humanitarian law

@Sarki_sultan@AbbakarAffan Shame on anyone justifying this, especially as it relates to the genocide in Gaza. You'll need to go search for your humanities, because y'all are aliens.
