Ozoro in Delta State revealed once again the failure of Governance and preventive policing in our country.

The scale and coordination of the sexual attacks of girls and women in repulsive videos and images suggest that those criminal violation of women were not at all spontaneous.

It therefore raises urgent questions about intelligence, community policing, and the visible presence or absence of law enforcement.

The failure of governance is evident in the deeply disgusting, disgraceful and completely unacceptable acts that depraved men audaciously perpetrated in that community.

There is no culture, no tradition, and no circumstance that justifies the assault of women.

What occurred in that Ozoro community was not cultural expression- it was criminal violation and violence against women.

It was organized, brazen, and dangerous criminal behavior by criminals who believe that as usual, there will be no consequences for their acts of depravity.

When a society begins to warn women to stay indoors to avoid being attacked, instead of restraining and punishing those who commit such acts, that society is signaling a total collapse of law, order, and moral leadership.

The Delta Government and the Nigeria Police @PoliceNG led by IGP @TunjiDisu1 must move beyond the statements made.

Every individual involved must be identified, arrested, and prosecuted without delay. Justice must be visible, swift, and decisive.

But beyond enforcement, this is a moment of reflection for all of us as Nigerians- Political and Traditional Leaders, Citizens, Communities and Organizations.

We must collectively act firmly or risk enabling a dangerous precedent like we have on other matters where Nigeria has normalized impunity.

This moment therefore demands more than reactive arrests. It requires:
1. Immediate prosecution of all identified perpetrators by @PoliceNG
2. A public accountability process led by the Delta State Government
3. Clear deterrence signals through swift judicial action
4. Nationwide reinforcement of zero tolerance for gender-based violence
5. Strengthening of community-level intelligence and policing systems

Ozoro is a core test of state capacity and legitimacy which is clearly now too eroded for comfort.

Above all, the key question in all of these is “How deeper do we as Nigerians want our country to sink?”

People wonder why fraudsters can't use the same intelligence and effort to do legitimate work.

However, it's actually more difficult to do things right. It takes more effort to be good than bad.

When you have no conscience, you don't second-guess your decisions or think about who you hurt. You have a god-like complex because you're smart enough to get away with stuff others won't attempt.

So, when you see someone trying to make money the right way, they deserve accolades. It's crushingly hard.

Men typically advertise that the provide and protect. But I feel like I am the protector of my household because of an incident that occurred a few months ago.

I was in the living room upstairs and my spirit told me that my husband was in grave danger.

I got to the kitchen and lo & behold, my husband was about to put a whole egg into the microwave. I swooped in like an eagle, pleading with him to cut the egg into two halves before placing it into the microwave.

Thankfully he listened and a disaster was avoided.

I was recognised in my village for this act of valor with the title "Ola the protector".

It is true that nations are not built directly by prayer, they are built through wisdom. We, however, get wisdom through prayer.

Proverbs 24:3
"Through wisdom is a house builded; and by understanding it is established:"

James 1:5
"If any of you lack wisdom, let him ask of God, that giveth to all men liberally, and upbraideth not; and it shall be given him."

Prayer has therefore been deployed in history as a tool in nation building, with the right type of prayers being offered.

Solomon's first request from God when he became king of a nation was for wisdom from God. Praying was an essential part of his life.

Even Nebbuchadnezzar, who wasn't aware or conscious of God's involvement in his affairs, had to learn the hard way that the wisdom he used in building the Babylonian empire actually came from God.

He was sent into the wilderness for 7 years until he realised that it was God all the while who blessed him with wisdom.

Daniel 4:33-34
"The same hour was the thing fulfilled upon Nebuchadnezzar: and he was driven from men, and did eat grass as oxen, and his body was wet with the dew of heaven, till his hairs were grown like eagles' feathers, and his nails like birds' claws.

God does teach men how to do things if they ask him to. Prayer is a powerful tool if deployed as instructed by God. Even the farmer who finds new methods of farming more effectively gets his inspiration from God.

Isaiah 28:24-26
24 Doth the plowman plow all day to sow? doth he open and break the clods of his ground?

25 When he hath made plain the face thereof, doth he not cast abroad the fitches, and scatter the cummin, and cast in the principal wheat and the appointed barley and the rie in their place?

"We've already been having sex for years. It'd be weird if we stopped now, wouldn't it?"

Today at the gym, I was talking with a guy in his 20s who’s engaged, and this is what he asked me. He and his fiancée are doing premarital counseling at a church in the area, but they’ve been living together for a few years. His priest had told him they shouldn’t have sex before they get married.

"Plus," he went on, "we’re living on one income. She’s in school. We can’t afford two rent payments. Even if we could, it’d be a waste of money. There’s a part of me that feels guilty for regularly doing what I know the church isn’t big on, but it also feels unrealistic nowadays. Priests are just out of touch."

I told him, "You need to be less concerned with what the priest says and more concerned with what God sats. You can disagree with a priest, but you’re a fool if you disagree with God. What do you think God wants for your sex life and marriage?"

He paused and then answered, "I guess I agree that sex is for marriage, but it’s been five years of living together. Does it even matter at this point? We’re getting married in five months. What’s five more months in a six-year relationship?"

I told him about how the most sexually pure season in my dating life was the six months before marriage. That’s the nature of repentance—you cross a line, transgress, and then you walk it back. If you keep sinning just because you’ve already been sinning, you’ll never grow one bit spiritually.

"You’ll never regret investing in the priority and purity of your future marriage. Taking meaningful steps now will only make your marriage, your wedding night, and your honeymoon more special."

He said he and his fiancée had previously discussed the possibility of him moving back in with his parents before the wedding, or her moving in with a friend, or even just moving into separate bedrooms. But it all felt ridiculous because they’ve already been sleeping together for so long.

"Following Jesus will always look ridiculous in the eyes of the world."

He thanked me for the push. I’ll follow up with him in a few days.

Young men and women need to be regularly reminded of three things:

1. Following Jesus in the details is always worth it.
2. Being "fools for Christ’s sake" is a badge of honor.
3. If there’s breath in your lungs, it’s not too late to repent.
