1/10 Sweden week 51 winter season update. In week 40-47 the seasonal increase is now the 2nd slowest on record. The growth observed last week (w.48) appears to have slowed somewhat, but overall mortality remained higher than it was earlier in this season.

9/10 Seven weeks have passed since cases began increasing at a quick pace. There were six weeks before there was any notable effect on mortality. As mentioned last week, this could be due to the elderly being affected at a later stage of the season.

10/10 This could serve as a warning - even if the growth in cases appears to have slowed, this level of caseload could still be associated with a higher mortality in the future if cases are to a greater extent found among those most susceptible to severe illness.

9/10 Six weeks have passed since cases began increasing at a quick pace. It has taken a long time for the increase in prevalence to affect mortality. Possibly, as indicated by the week 47 table, it is only more recently that cases filtered into the elderly population.
