I’ve been saying this for years. If Canada wants free trade with the United States, it must JOIN THE UNITED STATES.
Canada should be a part of the United States. Québec should be independent. This is the logical conclusion of Canadian history.
Liberals equate helping US with helping Trump. They can’t understand that the United States is confronting China as the representative of the free world against the authoritarian world.
They can’t understand that, in the end, there will be only one winner and one loser.
@Mattpetti32 Either help the United States defeat China, or help China defeat the United States. That is the defining issue of today’s world.
Liberals just can’t understand this.
Anyone who fails to recognize that the defining issue of today’s world is the U.S.-China Cold War, and that countries and people must ultimately choose between the free world and authoritarian forces, has a fundamentally flawed worldview.

It's very simple: Canada is a sovereign country free to pursue what it sees as its self interest. So is the US. If Canada wants to actively undermine US interests by collaborating with China in a variety of ways, the US is not under any obligation to continue providing Canada the benefits of an alliance and is free to pursue American self interest.
Canada currently sees its self interest aligned with Beijing. The US does not see its self interest aligned with Beijing. Canada is free to purse what it deems in its self interest but that self interest does not simultaneously receive the benefits of alliance with the United States.
If you want to complain that is requiring a choice between them feel free to complain. However, no apologies for forcing that choice. You can have one or the other but not both Canada.
I really don’t get why Canadians think free access to the U.S. market is an entitlement.....
Dairy cartel. Banking and maple syrup cartel. Telecom cartel. Provincial liquor monopolies...on and on . An auto industry that survives because it sells into the U.S. Steel and aluminum benefiting from subsidized cheap provincial power and also transshipments. Lumber from government-owned Crown forests under state-administered pricing.
Canada protects Canada. But America is expected to stay wide open?
Then add years of underfunding NATO, benefiting from NORAD and the U.S. security umbrella, and now concerns about Canada being used as a transshipment route to bypass U.S. trade restrictions.
And somehow the American worker and taxpayer are supposed to keep paying the price? C’mon!!.
This needs to end. If Canada wants free trade, then practice free trade. Open your markets. End the protections. Stop the transshipment loopholes. Compete on equal terms.
Otherwise, the U.S. should terminate CUSMA/USMCA, strengthen the border, and level the playing field.
Canada is an ally. But access to the American market is not a Canadian birthright. America is not an ATM.
You walked away from the greatest deal your country was ever offered. You picked China over your neighbor. You picked posturing over your own workers. And now you want to lecture the United States about sovereignty. A country that sells 75% of everything it makes to one customer, one, is threatening that customer. That's like the guy who rents the apartment threatening the landlord. Who does that? Nobody does that. Nobody smart.
Here's what happens next. The steel comes through our ports or it doesn't come at all. The aluminum, same thing. The trucks line up at the Ambassador Bridge and they sit there, and every hour they sit there, somebody in Windsor, somebody in Hamilton, somebody in Sault Ste. Marie loses a paycheck. And Mark Carney will be in front of a microphone somewhere explaining why that was a victory for Canadian independence. They won't buy it. The workers won't buy it. The workers aren't stupid. The politicians think they are, but they're not.
We don't need the deal. We never needed the deal. We offered it because we're good neighbors, because we're generous, maybe too generous, people tell me that all the time, Sir, you're too generous. Canada needs the deal. Canada needs it more than any country has ever needed anything. And the longer Ottawa plays this game, the worse the deal gets. Every week it gets worse. Every speech Carney gives, it gets worse.
The phone works. We have very good phones. Call when you're ready to be serious. And when you call, you'll find the offer is smaller than it was yesterday, and bigger than it'll be tomorrow.
America is done being the nice guy who gets taken advantage of. Done. Forever. And the whole world is watching Canada find that out.
Elbows up, Mark... Just be careful you don't throw your back out.
Canada is an incredibly corrupt and mob-run country, totally now controlled by Communist China, and run by fools who HATE America.
With all their natural resources (some of the most in the world), they could be a rich and strong country, but they chose self suicide time and time again at the ballot box, and even the opposition is run by fools. Sad!
@david_door57003@PhillipMillar Regardless of whether China is manipulating Carney, the fact is that Canada is playing the role of an ally of the Chinese Communist Party in the Cold War between the United States and China.
Carney's move is the end of the powerful Canada we knew. What the U.S. wanted was to restrict our ability to deal with China. The only two countries in a trade war with the U.S. right now are Canada and China. Is it that difficult to see who is influencing the Canadian government behind the scenes and who benefits from this? It's not Canadians
🚨 TRUMP JUST DROPPED THE HAMMER ON CANADA
“Canada wants the benefits of being a State, without being one!!! They have also charged our great farmers, for many years, massive amounts of Tariffs. No more!!! President DJT”
Canada has been freeloading for decades… free ride under the American security umbrella while slamming our farmers with massive tariffs.
Trump is done playing nice.
