Allowing large companies to buy hundreds of affordable homes in Randolph and Maymont and turn them into student housing is a subsidy for #VCU paid for by families paying property tax in #RVA@LevarStoney@Stephanie4RVA
Mayor Stoney. @LevarStoney. You cannot address housing affordability in #RVA without addressing how #VCU lack of student housing leads to a home costing $3600 to rent in Maymont. It only works if you have 5 families paying rent for their kids. https://t.co/U5FlXTxJzy
@CBS6 Stephanie Lynch worked to defund the police. The school board removed police from schools. These folk supported a campaign for a civilian review board lead by people who openly advocated for abolishing police. They are not capable of governing #RVA
@KenyaTheHunter In the year high school sports were cancelled, I think 18 teens in #RVA died from guns, maybe 1 from COVID. The pandemic was never the real crisis. Only 20% of elementary school kids passing reading is.
@AnthonyNBC12 Cuz #RVA is governed by a Mayor that asked law enforcement to stand down? Because we have two council members who wanted to defund the police? Because the school system wanted to remove police officers from schools. Yes, now is NOT the time for accountability. Here, it never is.
Not to burst anyone’s burble but more government = higher rent. Also, why should a council member whose driving record probably disqualifies them from being an Uber driver be trusted to govern #RVA?
After the closure of an affordable apartment building forced dozens of Richmonders onto the streets, @Stephanie4RVA wants the City to restart rental inspections. In my latest @ggwash story, hear from @VPLC why landlords need to be held accountable. 🏚️

@yitgordon@KarriPeifer@BHC_RVA Sincere question. Why does this 204 page report on housing affordability in #RVA not mention entire home short-term-rentals? According to Airdna there are 818 in the city. Rates they charge is avg $169/night ($5000/month). Thanks.
@Stephanie4RVA@thedrmikejones An entire-home STR in Swansboro charges $84/night (minimum stay of 30 days). Thats $2520/month. Average rent in South Richmond in Q3 '22 was $1,268. How can #rvacouncil be serious about affordable housing in #RVA if housing is being run like hotels?
Map of entire homes in the Church Hill neighborhood available for short-term-rent (like Airbnb). #RVA needs policies that reduce the supply of entire homes sitting waiting to be rented like a hotel. @LevarStoney#rvacouncil@Stephanie4RVA@KatherineJRVA
Despite having a voucher, the limited availability of #affordablehousing can make it challenging to secure a safe, stable home. An @8NEWS story illustrates the frustrations of finding and staying in an affordable home.

If you think housing is unaffordable in #RVA wait until they “loosen short term rental regulations”. Surprised that @KatherineJRVA and @Stephanie4RVA would support this.
In two weeks, 1st & 5th district City Council Members @KatherineJRVA and @Stephanie4RVA are hosting a meeting to gather feedback on three proposed zoning changes:
- loosening short-term rental regulations
- eliminating mandatory parking minimums
- permitting granny flats
