@LibDems The council pays my daughter’s care costs currently £1950pw. Of that, £1000 goes to the agency and only £950 to the carer. The system has to change so that carers are properly rewarded and companies don’t make huge profits from taxpayer money.
@Ferretgrove Our live in carer costs £1900pw of which the carer receives only £900. Most of this cost is covered by the council so it is taxpayers money directly profiting the care agencies to the tune of £50k per year. It’s outrageous.
Caring isn’t just my family's story, it is the story of millions, caring for each other, dealing with tough times, and keeping going with love.
Sharing our story hasn't been easy, but it's important. It's time to bring carers' experiences into the light.
@Toryscott It’s bad enough that these decisions are made based on money rather than what the patient needs ……. and quite absurd when one agency tries to save money by forcing another to pay instead. The system is broken. Hope Clare is recovering well now.
@TheLastLeg#isitok that there is no accessible way for new wheelchair-using comedians to enter into the comedy world? I have entered 2 national competitions both of which have no accessible venues! At least this is giving me more material? #sitdowncomedy#wheelynotfunny
@houseoffraser@age_uk So far I’ve been contacted by Angelica, Angelo and Anizah all of whom have exchanged DMs and then disappeared. I’ve just been told to email the complaint details again but no email address was provided. This is absurd.
@JamesCleverly Please try and recruit a team of 24/7 carers for a vulnerable relative, including emergency and holiday cover and let me know how you get on.
(The pay is £14ph max as per the Direct Payments budget.)
You won’t get a single British applicant. Not one.
@houseoffraser Also, can you give me an email or phone number for customer services as your website “contact us” section goes round in circles via help articles which is not what I want.
