with the way comicbook fans online talk about golden age superman, you'd believe he was reciting Marx quotes every second panel, but then you actually read the shit and in one of the first issues he solves the problem of a poor neighborhood with literally gentrification.
@IS_TERRIFIED You should be angry at this new year's celebration. You should be fucking angry. You should doomscroll. You should instigate unnecessary fandom drama. You should be really fucking angry. There is nothing better than this. You should be angry. Angry
@lunaromancia I've recently finished the first season of telltale's the walking dead, and that game wouldn't be any good without its many anti-climatic, "pointless" deaths. They serve a thematic purpose that is essential to the narrative being presented. It's a cruel, hopeless world
@PayeRyan@getyourtissues@Schaffrillas I personally interpreted what she said to be about how Chris's internal conflict isn't tied to his external conflict of leaving Earth X. Like, in season 1, Peacemaker's character arc of becoming his own independent and better person is directly tied to defeating the butterflies.
@getyourtissues@Schaffrillas Your last sentence succinctly put into words what exactly was wrong with the finale and this season as a whole. It felt so frustrating to hear those characters talk about how much they're gonna save and bring change to the world after doing fuck all in the Nаzi dimension.
@SaucePub@LilStickyRicky@Schaffrillas Imagine if GOTG2 ended with the crew simply escaping Ego and Peter resolving his internal character conflict by just directly talking to Yondu in the last 10 minutes, as if nothing had happened in the last two hours. That also would be a "character focused story", I guess.
@SaucePub@LilStickyRicky@Schaffrillas It felt so incredibly shallow to hear those characters talk about how much they're gonna save and bring change to the world after doing fuck all in the Nаzi dimension. Peacemaker gets to be praised as a hero and "inspirational" for doing absolutely fucking nothing.
@SnakeCqC@Schaffrillas That's because I mainly use bskу now, but occasionally I do branch out back to twittеr whenever I don't feel enough ragеbait in my bones.
@Schaffrillas For example, season 1 is about Chris' internal arc of becoming his own independent person, but it uses the external conflict of defeating the butterflies — an extraterrestrial species who want to take over humanity to help them — as the device to tell it through.
@Schaffrillas People who defend this by saying that this season is about Peacemaker and the gang's character arcs are kinda right, but also missing the point. Usually external and internal conflicts are directly linked to each other in order to make a satisfying and conclusive ending.
