The 135-yr-old Central Secretariat Library housing 8.5L books is being demolished for the Central Vista project with only 2 rooms allotted for relocation. Packing rare history to rot in godowns shows extreme neglect of national heritage.
Bail was rejected for Umar and me, and we are being punished as the most articulate voices of the protest. I am singled out for having led the Shaheen Bagh movement in its initial and formative phase. The irony is that the RSS-BJP have signalled clearly that we are being punished for our roles in the anti-CAA protest, and a section of the “secular” and “liberal” media still underplays my contribution by dismissing me and pointing to the “chicken neck” chakka jaam slogan, as if I sit in jail because I am a madman or a “secessionist” with no significant role in the protests.

Another bombshell from THE INDIAN EXPRESS on the Modi govt's social media crackdown.🚨
Between March and July 2026 nearly 1.95 lakh blocking orders were sent to Instagram, Facebook and YouTube — around 1275 per day.
This Government is so afraid of criticism that it keeps trying to silence the internet.
The beginning of a BIG Corporate War?
Zee founder Subhash Chandra has made explosive allegations against Mukesh Ambani.
Chandra claims Ambani once advised him not to repay his bank loans along with interest. He also alleges that Reliance tried to take control of Zee through an investor , a proposal he says he refused.
Reliance however has rejected the allegations as “baseless”, denying that its media businesses were used to target Chandra.
But the timing makes this far more intriguing.
Chandra is currently at the centre of a controversial insolvency battle involving ₹22,006 crore in claims against him as a personal guarantor.
The NCLT-approved plan reportedly offers creditors only about ₹6.5 crore, a nearly 99.97% haircut, while lenders including HDFC Bank and LIC Housing Finance are reportedly preparing to challenge the ruling.
And now, accusations of a corporate takeover attempt, alleged advice on repayment of loans and a media-war charge have entered the picture.
Allegations on one side. Denials on the other.
But is this just a bitter fallout or the opening salvo of a much bigger corporate war?
It seems to be more interesting facts will be revealing in upcoming weeks
Bank of Baroda quietly wrote off ₹35,715 crore in big-ticket loans (each above ₹100 crore) between FY 2020-21 and FY 2025-26.
Recovered amount? Only ₹9,946 crore.
When RTI activist Vivek Velankar asked for the names of these high-value borrowers, the bank slammed the door shut citing “privacy” and “fiduciary relationship.”
Public money. Public sector bank. Taxpayer-funded losses. Yet the big defaulters stay anonymous while ordinary citizens struggle for basic loans and face endless paperwork.
This is not banking. This is selective secrecy.
If the common man defaults on a small education or home loan, his name and photo are plastered everywhere. But when thousands of crores vanish, suddenly privacy becomes sacred.
Why this double standard? Why protect the powerful while the honest taxpayer pays the price?
Transparency is not optional when public funds are involved. Name the big borrowers. Recover the money. Or stop calling it a public sector bank.
Enough of this one-sided protection. Accountability cannot remain reserved for the weak.
West Bengal in the past 24 hours.
1. Congress leader Anisur Rahman and his son Abu Sufian shot dead.
2. Former TMC MLA Ashish Banerjee commits suicide alleging harassment by BJP goons and media.
3. CJP supporter Abdul's father killed by BJP goons.
The whole India should know this is what lawlessness and goonda raaj looks like under BJP misruled Bengal. I demand nothing but immediate resignation of Home Minister Suvendu Adhikari.
@RahulGandhi sir please raise your voice against such kind of misrule happening in Bengal.
We are very concerned for Abdul. His father has died at the hands of goons who allegedly belong to the BJP. What was his crime? That he planned on conducting a social audit of his local government school. Abdul, entire CJP family is with you. We will not rest until those goons are brought to justice! @WBPolice, do your job immediately.
This is absolutely shameful!!
As a woman and public representative, you should be ashamed of yourself @RadhaSinghBJP.
Over 200 innocent school children from 8 schools in Chitrangi, Singrauli were made to walk around 6 km and stand waiting for over an hour under the scorching heat with zero adequate water or food arrangements, just for your Tiranga Yatra arrival.
As a result, 12 students fell critically ill and collapsed from severe dehydration, with children rushed to the hospital on emergency oxygen support.
Risking the lives of young students for political PR is peak negligence and cruelty.
