Two ladies arrested for stealing their neighbors’ 3 kids 2 weeks after moving in as tenants
Two women have been arrested in Jalingo, Taraba State, after they were caught attempting to take three young girls out of the state to Adamawa.
According to reports, the suspects, both single and reportedly from the South-East, were arrested at a filling station while travelling in a commercial vehicle with the girls, aged between five and six.
The incident reportedly began when the women, who had rented a room in the same compound where the girls lived about two weeks earlier, reportedly deceived their mothers into allowing the children to accompany them to the market.
Instead, the women allegedly took the girls to a motor park in Jalingo, where they hired a vehicle to transport them to Adamawa State.
The vehicle driver reportedly became suspicious after noticing that the girls did not resemble the women. He alerted members of his union, who contacted the police, leading to the suspects’ arrest.
At the police station, the women reportedly admitted taking the girls from their compound after deceiving their mothers. The girls, identified as Ummul Shuaibu, Ummul Baba Gasal and Amina Abubakar, were later reunited with their families at the Taraba State Police Command headquarters.
Their fathers were initially invited to identify them, while their mothers were subsequently asked to confirm their identities before their release.
Abubakar Kwalli, father of one of the girls, said the children became emotional when they saw their mothers, with each girl rushing to her mother in tears.
The Taraba State Police Public Relations Officer, ASP Victor Mshelizah, confirmed the arrest and said investigation into the incident was ongoing, adding that further details would be released after the investigation.

This guy might have a heart attack or stroke soon if he’s not careful. People like this deep down are not happy so they mask it by finding solace in food and making people think they’re happy.

Left: heroin, fentanyl and cocaine addict, shooting every day, living on the streets.
Right: 769 days sober, learning to live a life I finally love.
My dad got me off the streets on July 21, 2024. I walked into detox at 49kg (108 lbs). Skin and bones, nothing else left. For more than half my life, I hated myself. I watched other people love being alive and couldn’t understand it. I was only ever surviving. Heroin and crack took everything, and I ended up on the streets as the exact person I swore I’d never become. Then fentanyl arrived and dying became normal. Friends took their last breath right in front of me. I od’d more times than I can count, woke up to Narcan again and again, always asking the same question: why am I still here? I tried quitting so many times. Detox, rehab, repeat. I always went back, because real change terrified me more than dying did.
Until one day I called my dad, crying. He came. Detox, then 18 months of long-term treatment. New state, new life, every old tie cut. Zero. Today I’m at peace. I love myself, the healthy way. I used to numb everything just to get through a day. Now I feel it all, the highs and the lows, and that’s exactly where the growth is. Of course I still have dark days. But it gets better, and I learned to deal with them instead of running. In the past, the smallest craving or wave of depression sent me straight back to using. Today I sit with it. I let it pass through me. And every time it does, I come out stronger than ever.
To my doctor, my therapists, and my parents: I owe you everything.
If I came back from that place, so can you. Keep going. There’s light on the other side. We do recover.
Let us say the prayer to St Michael the Archangel:
Saint Michael the Archangel, defend us in battle.
Be our protection against the wickedness and snares of the devil.
May God rebuke him, we humbly pray;
and do thou, O Prince of the Heavenly Host, by the power of God, cast into hell Satan and all the evil spirits who prowl about the world seeking the ruin of souls.
Amen.
Nigerians are often praised for being resilient.
But there is a dangerous side to constantly celebrating resilience: people can start romanticizing unnecessary suffering.
Sometimes people don’t need more resilience.
They need better systems.
For Sportybet to eventually pay that guy 3.4 million despite claiming he cashed out means they tried ripping him. Imagine the countless people that do not have a platform to speak up that they must have done this to. The anyhowness in this country is causing a lot of rubbish.

People who have not built anything in their entire life do not understand what it means to watch what you are building die because investors at home are not willing to invest in your idea, then cry foul when foreign investors bring good funds to rescue your idea and passion from dying.
If you want to see the next level of industrialization in Nigeria, support your fellow builders and let VCs fund them.
Stop crying because foreigners are buying out your best brains when nobody is helping them here.
Celebrating My Eldest Brother at 75
Today, 30th August 2026, I celebrate my eldest brother, Dominic Ositadimma Obi, who turns 75. I celebrate him not merely because he is my elder brother or because of his age, but because he is an exemplary human being.
When I was Governor of Anambra State for eight years, he never came to my office or the Governor’s Lodge for a day seeking favours, as many might have expected. He is a planner and contractor who builds homes for people, yet not once did he ask me for a government contract.
Whenever we met, he would warmly embrace me and tell me that he was fine. He would then solemnly remind me to keep doing what I promised the people and never bring a bad name to the family and my community. He would tell me that whatever difficulties he was going through, many others were worse off, and that I should do my best for society.
I later came to understand that this was not peculiar to him alone. My family members had actually held a meeting and resolved that none of them would take advantage of my position as Governor. They decided that whatever good name I was building for the Obi family and Agulu must be protected. The same principle extended to my children.
Today, at 75, my beloved brother remains deeply concerned about Nigeria. Whenever we speak, he is full of prayers and good wishes. He constantly reminds me that if I have the opportunity to serve Nigeria, I should do so with honesty, integrity, and the interest of the people at heart.
Brother Dom, I thank God for the gift of your life and for the example you have set for our family. Your integrity, humility, contentment, and sense of responsibility are qualities worthy of celebration.
May God Almighty, who has graciously been with you all these years, grant you good health, His abundant grace, and blessings.
Happy 75th birthday, my dearest brother. -PO
