@CupEmpty@dtaspire@StreetsblogNYC@Bowerygals you really don’t need a car in the city. you can walk almost everywhere and there are trains and buses and citibikes and the ferry and cabs. and for those times you need to drive you can rent a zipcar by the hour.
@CupEmpty@dtaspire@StreetsblogNYC@Bowerygals when i had a car in queens i paid $200 a month and that was deeply discounted cause i owned an apartment in the building. if i rented and did not own it would have been $400. that was about 5 years ago. thengarages in manhattan used to run $6-600 a month. i’m sure it’s more now i
@CupEmpty@dtaspire@StreetsblogNYC@Bowerygals most garages are privately owned. there are some municipal garages but not many. Some apartment buildings have garages where tenants can lease a space at a discount. it is still $$$. long term paid street parking would not be feasible.
@trishaashley I was officially allowed to stay up a half an hour later to read, but there was always a flashlight conveniently left by my bed for reading under the covers ( something i still do to
this day )
@clairlemon@BDSixsmith i was living in a high rise in manhattan - an older woman in a building of predominantly twentysomethings. we had a fire and i literally had to shoo them out of the hallways and down the stairs and out of the building like a loud mother duck. they just kept milling around
