It has just been learned that the barracks in Kot Lakhpat Jail, Lahore, where Imran Khan's three sisters are being held, are the same ones used to house female blasphemy convicts. It has been reported that the three sisters are being kept in separate rooms within these barracks and are not even allowed to stay together, while the remaining rooms are occupied by women accused of blasphemy. This is a severe form of mental and physical torture.
That particular barrack is situated in an isolated area far ahead near the madrasa, and it used to have a large padlock on the outside that was never seen open. The women kept inside for the crime of blasphemy had gone insane because no one was allowed to go there; mostly, only the sounds of crying could be heard.
These barracks are built in a very strange manner. Their walls are so high that one cannot even make their voice heard from there, nor does any sunlight reach inside. The women inmates who occasionally went there to clean would come back looking deeply disturbed. They are very strangely constructed barracks.
Those women had gone insane. When we were in jail, the women accused of blasphemy were only brought out from there when they had to be taken to court. The women kept inside there had gone mad. If Imran Khan's sisters are being kept there, this treatment is highly condemnable. It is essential to raise a voice against this cruelty.

There is little choice left for the people of Pakistan.

Either remain silent while their chosen leader is imprisoned. Whilst his family is detained, his party is suppressed and justice is denied - or come out peacefully and exercise their fundamental right to protest.

You can arrest families and threaten people with violence. But you cannot imprison 250 million Pakistanis or crush the will of a generation.

No regime is more powerful than its people. The world must watch as the people of Pakistan come together to demonstrate their plea for justice, even in the face of threats of violence.

Inshallah, Pakistan’s future will be decided by its people, not by criminals who rule through fear.
