Generally speaking, I agree. Iâm a free market capitalist. In my view, nationalisation should always be an absolute last resort.
Having said that, I think we need to be honest with ourselves: there are certain aspects of our society that are simply not free markets.
The police are a good example. Policing is a form of socialism. So is the military. Considering Palantirâs role, I think we could reasonably argue that they fall into roughly the same bucket.
To me, this is one of those situations in which you have to choose between undesirable options.
Palantir arenât selling cookies; theyâre selling highly dangerous and potentially dystopian technology with the power to destroy democracy and freedom. This isnât hyperbole.
As such, controls must be put in place to prevent companies like this from destroying Western civilisation and bringing in a neo-feudal age of almost unfathomable horrors.
The answer does NOT have to be nationalisation, but if they, and others like them, are going to take the piss, and use our tax money to do so, I do think they should have their wings clipped before they fly away with all the money and power.
The United States has spent EIGHT TRILLION DOLLARS fighting and policing in the Middle East. Thousands of our Great Soldiers have died or been badly wounded. Millions of people have died on the other side. GOING INTO THE MIDDLE EAST IS THE WORST DECISION EVER MADE.....
A lie was exposed. Instead of retracting it, the SYSTEM that enabled the genocide, attacks the messanger. France knows it stepped in something foul, but pride forbids correction: the archives are ransacked for any stray word. Others repeat the falsehood.
The Inquisition is back.
