It might seem strange that Bryan doesn’t get cured after being infected, especially since he’s the protagonist of Zach Cregger’s Resident Evil. But what if that’s the point? Bryan is essentially an NPC character.

Everything about Bryan the courier feels like the kind of tragic side story you’d discover in a document while playing a Resident Evil game. He gets infected early, leaves a voice recording for his girlfriend, and even delivers the ingredients needed for a potential cure. It’s easy to imagine Leon or Claire stumbling across his story while exploring Raccoon City.

The movie may simply be telling the story behind that “document” not the story of a classic Resident Evil hero, but the tragic origin of how a monster is created. 🧟‍♂️
