Dear @PublicProtector ,
South Africa’s Constitution guarantees every citizen the right to freedom of expression under Section 16, including the right to question, criticise, and debate the conduct of public officials and constitutional institutions. In a constitutional democracy, public office bearers are accountable to the people and can't be shielded from public scrutiny simply because criticism may be uncomfortable or politically inconvenient.
Any interpretation of the Public Protector Act that appears to criminalise public criticism risks conflicting with the spirit, values, and supremacy of the Constitution, which remains the highest law of the Republic.
South Africans must never be made to feel that expressing disagreement with findings, reports, or public conduct could expose them to intimidation or imprisonment. Democracy depends on open debate, transparency, and accountability. Constitutional institutions strengthen public trust not through threats of prosecution but through impartiality, integrity, and respect for the constitutional rights of the people they serve.
We are concerned that you have not issued a statement on the recently disclassified Phala Phala Investigations by IPID, which presented evidence of alleged kidnapping of public members you are constitutionally bound to protect. Please explain to us why ?
You are a Public Protector and not a Private Protector.

It is a simple life. The air is fresher, the people are happier to see you (maybe because they don't see you as often) and you get to have a place of belonging. Your neighbours in GP can change with one call to an estate agent, back home that is not the case. More stable. Predictable.
You don't need to book an airbnb for the quiet, just a few bags of groceries in the boot or even feeling welcome when you come empty handed. Depending on how rural it is, the simplee acts become an adventure. From cooking to heating up water.
You can trace the lineage of everyone around you. That dude you are fighting with at the tavern, his grandfather and your grandfather were friends. Your surname means something and not just a diluted sequence of letters on a title deed that means nothing to everyone around you. Your loud family coming together is not a Body Corporate fine.
Greeting is not met with the silent question of "What do you want". It's just what happens. Minding your own business is not good manners, it is frowned upon. Everyone is involved and no invitations are needed to your grief or your celebrations.
Things move quickly in GP, the villages are a slow beat. The only thing fast is the music.
Mr. Magagula's testimony demonstrates that when you just do your work, irrespective of resource limitations and not being
proficient in English, you can be a credible witness. You just tell the truth, there's no " Errrr I can't recall, I don't remember". #MadlangaCommission
It can’t be true that Minnie is being made the face of this entire debacle. A little bit of digging shows us that the SIU reported on this issue as far back as May. Here is their thread https://t.co/SMZ1LrVF7i
Crazy how Vincent Tseka was still part of this camp and continuing with his duties of Team Manager while the rest of the country was stressed out. Now he's telling people to keep quiet...Totally shameless 🙄
We have a World Cup to conquer in 2026. I’m gonna need Robot Boii to put the mic down and put some boots on. Everyone over 2ft is getting deployed. Primo 🙏🏾 , time to put the camera down buddy and emulate your dad.
“I am Nigerian, it’s not my place to weigh in on South African racial discourse.”
That’s all Tiwa Savage had to say, but she had to go and put her foot in it.
I don’t think Kishimoto is racist but it’ll always fucking fry me that he made the one black village’s defining trait being fast as hell and their main rep is a rapper 😭😭😭
I hope whoever tries to fix this country one day is aware of the fact that you’ll have to meet the criminals at their level. You’re not going to be able to clean this mess up and still keep your hands clean.
“Justice” is you trying to feed your nosy self. A year of an ongoing court case and you won’t even be interested in it anymore. It’ll be the loved ones incurring expenses and reliving traumas while you who “wanted to know the truth” has moved on with your life.
