Okiya Omtatah: While Kenya bleeds, legacy politicians remain silent. Many are not fighting to fix the system. They are fighting to inherit it... If we remain silent while our country is looted, future generations will remember us as the people who watched Kenya collapse and did nothing.
Somethings are a TOTAL WASTE OF TIME. H.E UHURU can do as he wants. That shouldn't bother anyone...just do your FUCKING job and move this poor country foward. Kenyans aren't interested on whether a dollar billionaire will earn a few more shillings!
In the past few years, thanks to the gallant efforts of the Government of Kenya and its patriotic officers and citizens, corruption has been totally eradicated at all levels of the Kenyan Government...ALHAMDULILAH. unfortunately, in Kenya, corruption has now been officially replaced by extortion...forceful extortion. They no longer ask or beg...they demand and take by force.
If we keep moving Nairobi County functions to National Government, why can't we just change the constitution & put it under the National Government? What is the point of people electing a Governor to do his work only for him/her to sub contract the National Government?
Forget this fool. He EATS GRASS like my camel in Bangal. Ask him which clients he is talking about? Not that the corrupt don't have a right to legal representation. These thieves when they buy/build properties in Nairobi AVOID Somali lawyers so that no one in the community knows about it.
Eric Latiff has chosen to remind Kenyans of Wamuchomba’s remarks on NTV, where she stated that she would not kneel before William Ruto in exchange for development. Take a listen
The call for audit and accountability of the political elites in NFD and the cry for help from the poor and neglected are both organic and indigenous. H.E RIGATHI GACHAGUA merely highlighted the plight and misery of the people of the North.
Hon Senator, you are needlessly over defensive in this debate. Let us hear everyone, especially victims and please realise that you are swimming against a strong current. How can you defend the current status quo in Northern Kenya when it comes to county governments and absentee political elites? Isn't it the truth that MPs, Governors and MCAs who have more than a wife keep all of them in different estates of Nairobi and none in the NFD? Isn't it true that not a single MP, MCA or Governor is domiciled in NFD? show me one leader whose kids attend local schools in NFD. I'm extremely disappointed with your needless denial of the TRUTH when it comes to thieving political elites from NFD. Your persistent denial of the sorry state of affairs in the North and your robust and utterly misplaced defence of the thieving political elites displays a level of cruelty you are not normally associated with or known for.
Mbadi’s tribal incitement of Luos versus Kikuyus is nauseating and intellectually dishonest.
You cannot inflame villagers against an entire community while, at a personal and professional level, you sit comfortably in Cabinet with members of that same community. If Kikuyus are the problem, then let him begin by sacking the CBK Governor and boycotting Cabinet meetings where Kikuyu ministers sit. Otherwise, spare us the double standards.
You cannot tell Luo villagers that a tribe is evil while that tribe is good enough to sign your payslips, approve your budgets, and co-manage the economy with you.
Legacy politicians thrive on this fraud. They weaponise tribal anger to maintain relevance, while privately enjoying cross-tribal privilege and elite comfort. They export bitterness to the poor and import cooperation for themselves.
Mbadi must remember this: he is Cabinet Secretary for Finance of the Republic of Kenya, not a tribal mascot, not a village mobiliser, and not a professional grievance merchant. The economy does not belong to one community, and neither does the Treasury.
If you want to be national, speak and act nationally. If you want to be tribal, resign and do it honestly.
Legacy politicians must stop inciting communities for survival. Kenya deserves better.
Politically, H.E RIGATHI GACHAGUA @rigathi and myself are on opposite side of the political divide. He is a Wamunyoroist, while I support H.E @WILLIAMSRUTO's government 100%. We don't see things from the same prism. But Gachagua and myself see and read from the same script when it comes to the problems of North Kenya. Leave alone the history and neglect of the region. Both myself and Gachagua admit/agree the sordid neglect of the north informs the underdevelopment of the region. But we also agree on something else. Corrupt leaders who steal from the poor people of Northern Kenya play an equally important role in the underdevelopment of the region. Since 2013, over Kshs 1 TRILLION was allocated through devolution funds, CDF funds, donors funds and grants from Central government to the Northern counties. A forensic audit will sadly show that 90% of these funds were wasted and misappropriated. Unfortunately, in Kenya, thieves are revered and not prosecuted (can you believe that according to a report released by @EACCKenya last week, Marsabit is the least corrupt county in Kenya? Can anyone take @EACCKenya serious? Instead of fighting corruption it is laundering it). That is why Gachagua's intervention is welcome. I plead with Hon Gachagua to take the fight against corrupt leaders of Northern Kenya to the next level. We need a national convention on the quandary facing the people of the North and the role their political leaders played in their plight. We need a national kamkunji on where the Kshs 1 TRILLION allocated to the Northern counties has gone to? Has it been invested in Nairobi, Dubai etc? What is the record of @EACCKenya in fighting corruption in the Northern counties? Is @EACCKenya an active accomplice of the larceny that is visited on the poor people of Northern Kenya. The government of President Ruto shouldn't allow Gachagua to monopolise this burning and popular topic. The government must openly address this troubling issue. We can no longer remain silent on this corruption genocide of Northern Kenya. Now is the time to speak about it and fight it.
Young residents from North Eastern Kenya have called out their elders for refusing to admit that the region’s leaders have let them down for many years.
