SANDF uniforms, unlicensed guns, mine explosives, ammunition and stolen cars have been recovered by police in the uMzinyathi District of KZN. 

The uMzinyathi District Task Team, Newcastle Public Order Policing, PMB Flying Squad and other units have been conducting firearm recovery operations since Wednesday. 

Five suspects have been arrested so far in connection with nine guns, found in different locations. 

This was sparked by information gathered on a recent cash in transit heist in the Enkovukeni area. 

In the most recent raid overnight, a man was arrested for being in possession of illegal guns, ammunition and SANDF uniforms in Greytown. 

Police found two handguns, two rifles, various forms of ammunition, magazines, and a knife, along with an overall, hat, pants and bulletproof vest from the SANDF. 

The suspects are due to appear in the Greytown and Glencoe Magistrate’s courts soon. @eNCA
