@dyerjonathan Early days, strong west wind into Sumatra has cranked up the warm water but the atmosphere shows no interest yet. most model runs in May went off the concept of +IOD. Indian Ocean predictions all over the shop atm, cf to the pacific its capable of rapid change due to trop weather
@dyerjonathan That high was certainly very lost Jono. Ive not seen one that small and low down. The latest ACCESS forecast keeps the dominant high off WA funnelling fronts towards Vic, for a wetter south of the divide in June, Then flips drier in July. We will see?it’s been a fantastic start!!

Going on a drive for that perfect spring shot of flowering canola?
❌ Please don’t enter a property and a canola crop without first getting the farmer's okay.

@dyerjonathan@johngbennett Atm it’s more that the cold fronts won’t get north of the great divide. Pretty sure those first 4 years are double whammy dry from the Indian and pacific, 2015 +IOD, 2008 neither
@craigyMallee pretty hard to get historic wind data Simon. This NOAA wind anomaly for the last 30 days shows its certainly been stronger westerly than normal. Interestingly a last 90 day graph is benign. The north position of highs for winter has led to greater westerly wind flow i reckon too
In 2023 @VicGovAg, @BCG_Birchip & @MsfMallee partnered with Mallee farmers to explore ways to manage vulnerable soils. Join our webinar 12pm Tue 18 June to hear results & catch up with @Eladyerg for the 2024 seasonal outlook for the Mallee. To register: https://t.co/qVQY8uvCR8
Looking forward to welcoming you to our summer crops research field day on Feb 8 at Wandella. Crop alternatives demo is starting to look a treat, if you are interested in sunflowers, adzuki beans, mung bean, lablab, cowpeas. Plenty of maize work at the site too!
One of my pet peeves with R & D crews.
If a farmer is courteous enough to allow you to do a trial on their property, please do the same back & spend 15-30 mins after harvest doing an emu pick of the site.
** where is the wire from the pegs that I could only find the tags for? 😬
Identified as a need by a group of local farmers - get your team to this day and get on the same page for harvest! Especially if you have harvest casuals, backpackers or new employees!!! Farmer to farmer sessions - industry experts - one day that could save time this harvest!
@dyerjonathan Always use the Aug-Oct consecutive Jonathan, u want to know the historical finishes to the season and how they rank. Choosing the aug, sept, Oct and adding them up leads to erroneous stats particularly at the low and high deciles
