1 year ago tonight the lighthouse was relit for the first time since Hurricane Dorian. For all of us on the Cay that first dim light shining that night was a true beacon of hope against the dark and helpless post-Dorian skies. https://t.co/3e1EcqnrNe
If everyone reading this gave $5 each to the ERLS gofundme, the shingles for all of the outbuildings could be purchased 🙂 Please support us: https://t.co/mvvaQMUbCQ

FILMED PRE-DORIAN. A tribute to the Elbow Reef Lighthouse narrated by our own, DP Patterson and featuring our Lighthouse Keeper Jeffery Forbes. We have a long way to go towards full restoration but we endeavor to make it happen. We love our lighthouse!
Members of the Elbow Reef Lighthouse Society met at the lightstation in January, 2020 to identify labor and materials needed for the work. With financial support in place, we plan to have the Elbow Reef Lighthouse standing strong once again in as little as 8 months.
Five months post-Dorian, the determined Elbow Reef Lighthouse Society moves forward with its mission to preserve the lighthouse as an active aid to navigation. Dealing with the worst damage the Lightstation has sustained since Hurricane Floyd, progress has been slow but methodic.
With the help of Samaratin’s Purse, the grounds were cleared, roofs tarped and the tower along with its outbuildings have been cleared of hazardous debris. Efforts now are to begin the rebuilding of the keeper’s quarters so the keepers can get back in their homes.
