I know this feels like a win for Democrats alone. But in the long run, it’s a win for Republicans, too. A gerrymander is a legislative monopoly. All monopolists stagnate. This is a chance for Republicans to innovate and invigorate their party. It’s a win for everyone!
Here in Hudson celebrating fair maps I signed for Wisconsin after more than a decade of having some of the most gerrymandered maps in America.
Fair maps are a big deal, folks, no matter where you live in Wisconsin.
@EGGMAN_UstabU Of course. I acknowledged you weren’t saying that. I just used 100 to indicate we all have some threshold beyond which it degrades the election.
Good luck in your efforts.
Things just ain’t right with the world today. We need new ways of doing things including new ways of sharing power & electing leaders.
You can be your children’s Founding Fathers & Mothers. Demand change to the system… to the rules.

@EGGMAN_UstabU You could be right.
Our FFV bill goes to committee hearings in Madison soon. I hope we succeed. But if the national law is enacted, WI will comply.
@EGGMAN_UstabU You and I just have a reasonable difference of opinion. I agree RCV can handle large volume of choices, but I see value in balancing increased choices vs what people can reasonably keep straight in their mind. You value the greater choice (>5) more than I do.
104 years ago today, the Senate passed the 19th Amendment, and a week later, Wisconsin was the 1st state in our union to ratify the amendment, granting women the right to vote.
Today, our fight continues as we carry on Wisconsin’s proud tradition of fighting for women’s rights!
A history of the Gerrymander, a thread 🧵
Gerrymandering has become a prominent issue today, with every state having some history of it. However, the term only originated around 200 years ago, when Elbridge Gerry became the governor of Massachusetts in 1811.
Here's the 2022 House elections but only the districts decided by a <10% vote margin. Note the giant hole in the Central-South US, where gerrymandering has all but stifled fair competition.
It's raining here today. Nothing to do. Since we don't have Final Five Voting here in WI yet, I think I'll practice my Instant Runoff Voting for a while.

@badachie Thanks. Still working on the fun stuff (timed competition & Wordle-like social media sharing) and fit to phone, but the IRV algorithm is robust. If you have difficulty accessing, let me know. https://t.co/l6ZFbpDNVa

@badachie For our effort to get Final Five Voting in WI, we've created an instant runoff tabulating game as a teaching tool. I'd like you to participate in our beta test, Rachel; would you consider doing so? Please respond if interested. - Bob

I think the reality of legislative power is somewhere between this👇 and the old Schoolhouse Rock version I learned as an 8-year-old. #I’mJustABill
