I’ve been thinking about what lies ahead for the telecoms infrastructure industry in 2024. Here are some of the emerging trends I’m seeing for this year👇

1. Ramping up the 4-to-5G transition in developing communities: the rollout continues, as most of our markets remain on 3G/4G with strong growth prospects. Our 11 markets covering close to 800 million people are still mostly in the 4G cycle, in addition to adding more than 10 million new people (newborns) each year.

2. Converging location and connectivity: macro towers, small cells, fiber connectivity, and edge computing are slowly converging in our locations. We're focused on deepening our fiber connectivity, particularly in markets like Brazil and Nigeria, where our customers are advancing rapidly along this technology curve.

3. Utilizing AI to improve operational efficiency and range of offerings to customers: we need to think “Intelligent Tower.” The old ways of doing things will not be adequate for the future and AI will help with the heavy loads.

4. Stronger sustainability strategies: infrastructure sharing is inherently sustainable, but we also need to be conscious of community needs rooted in connectivity like protecting the local environment and ecosystems we operate in, with a clear focus on utilizing innovative, green energy solutions as much as possible.

5. People, People, People: continuously developing our talent base as our people remain our most important asset. Stronger connectivity provides more opportunities in education, economic growth, and governance, allowing us to unlock the talent of countless individuals.
