He published a book naming the owners by name. They sued him for libel. He won ✅

Parliament dropped his bill anyway.

Nine years of campaigning.

So he stood up in the House of Commons and called his fellow MPs VILLAINS 🤬

Shook his fist in the Speaker's face.

The Merchant Shipping Act passed.

By 1930 his load line was law in 54 countries.

Today it sits on every merchant ship on earth 🌍

And the rubber-soled shoes every British child has worn in PE? The line where the sole meets the canvas. Named after him. 👟
