Here’s the latest devo map from @lgcplus
Look at the absolute chaos there - and the map does not even include the myriad of local governance bodies that operate below and across the CA level 🤯
The ungovernable governance of devolution…

Amazing day yesterday with @golaboxford#research team exploring #Phase2@KBOP_Kirklees Evaluation findings. Loved the #EvidenceSafari but really loved the passion, trust, affection, honesty & collaboration from our partnership. Huge thanks @huddsmission for the delicious lunch!
Join us on Weds, 19th Oct 2pm for a fascinating discussion of the findings from the UK's Commissioning Better #Outcomes (CBO) Fund. How do the CBO #SIBs vary from the 'textbook' SIB model and what do their different features mean for implementation? https://t.co/R9plfAuCaP
So @TorstenBell has a great thread on madness of benefit cuts.
I'll just add one graph
We have pretty much the least generous system in the *world* - is nonsense to suggest ppl are 'incentivised' to stay at home.
Need to do far more to help ppl into work, not cut benefits further
But look here - signs for first time today that the Department agrees!
This is them "in their own words" to NAO on their top priorities for future.
Disability, health, inequalities, progression.
Great to see - now need HMT to get behind this at Spending Review too. 3/
Great to see the Restart tender results published today.

So right in time to announce new help for long-term unemployed - evidence from @DWP that the Work Programme had pretty big positive impacts. H/T @AdamCoutts. Quick thread.

Key finding here - fewer days on benefit, more days in work, more doing neither. 1/
I've written a personal piece, reflecting as Dominic Cummings leaves No.10, about the importance of kindness in social science and public policy.
"Remember, hate is always foolish, and love is always wise. Always try to be nice and never fail to be kind."
Today we are extremely proud to announce 101 new Future Leaders Fellowships, supported through an investment of £109 million, tackling challenges from cancer treatment to space travel. /1
#KickstartScheme There are 54k 16-17 year olds not in education, employment or training but only around 12k of the same age group are on Universal Credit - so what about the other 42,000 who are NEET?
Great to see detailed examples now on Kickstart webpage for how govt will assess whether jobs are additional, and the employability support for young ppl. Both are key.
Missing piece tho is a clear statement and examples on job quality... 1/

Adam Whitworth @sheffieldgeog and @EleanorCarter highlight the UK's ongoing experimentation in employment support quasi-markets, asking are we evolving or merely iterating? #deepdive#SOC20
So I've only just looked at new HMRC Job Retention stats, published Wednesday. Really interesting data by age. Shows clearly the huge impacts on young - esp. 16-18s - but also upward slope among late 50s/ early 60s. 1/
