A huge thankyou to Canterbury Poetry Competition for shortlisting my poem, 'A complicated matter at the court of Henri II'. It was inspired by this beautiful chateau and the women who lived here, Catherine de Medici and Diane Poitiers.

I really enjoyed being part of the Understory Conversation with the poet @CharlotteGann. It ended up being quite philosophical and made me think more deeply about the process of writing.

Staying in the beautiful Yorkshire village of Heptonstall where I didn't realise before going is where Sylvia Plath was buried. It's a quiet very peaceful spot- her grave growing with wildflowers- coins laid on the top and a bunch of irises wrapped in brown paper.

I've always been fascinated with the lives of artists and how this influences their work.
Edith Piaf is classic 'rags to riches' but her life was so hard, so tragic.
This is the first section of a poem I wrote about her life, recently long-listed in Canterbury poetry competition.

I am always disappointed at how little space (physically) is made for Poetry sections in bookshops. The only shop which has a large and diverse range seems to be Foyles. There are always back to back walls for novels. If you're lucky you might get one bookshelf for poetry.
